Expect low launch ratings due to a combination of factors but I think it will be back on terms with previous summer series before too long if it lives up to its early promise. ”

It has launched quite well, with some good looking characters in there. I'll certainly tune in the next few nights to see how it shapes up. The ratings I'm really interested in though are for Suspects and Wentworth Prison. I hope Suspects can achieve something in the strong 1 million range this time, and I'm hoping Wentworth Prison can build on its last series. I'm hoping that the CBB lead in helps them both.

On paper, the CBB case didn't look too good, but what a great mix IMO.

And Gary Busey.... most awkward entrance ever, AND funniest entrance too whilst being introduced.

However, don't think it will launch well.

This Miranda Hart doing the Gen Game thing has been doing the circuits for months. I think there's far more truth in what Charlotte Moore says than what Miranda would have us believe.

I think that a special press pack was going to be created with Miranda getting promotion - a great way to promote her specials at the same time. But Charlottes interview let the cat out of the bag a bit too early and Miranda is just feeling a bit annoyed. I suspect the press pack will follow in a few days.

This is the same as the rumours surrounding that Judy Murray was going to do Strictly. Last month she officially tweeted to say she wasn't doing it. Today, the BBC in conjunction with Judy confirmed she was doing it after all.

Charlotte moore isn't likely to reveal anything about anyone unless it's certain. It's all about timing, that's all.

I wonder if she's nervous about doing it. I think she should be nervous. I don't think she is right for it, at all. Bruce Forsyth carried her on the show they did last September.

Quite a feat! Seriously, you're right, but I think she was genuinely star-struck.

Doing his Harry Hill character for so long, without it ever slipping, makes me think he'd be a good sitcom actor playing a different character, without the glasses and the big collars.

'CharMo'?

I give up.

Hopefully we will get some star names for "Strictly Come Dancing" this year. The celebrity pool is always shrinking for the show!! I looked up Matt Smith debut on 3 April in 2010 and he collared 7.7 million overnight but began at 6.15 and ended by 7.30pm. Capaldi should have the later slot advantage you would think, unless overnights have vastly reduced in 4 years. I just don't know how it will be received overnight. "The Great British Bake Off" success with the audience is the only massive figure BBC one has had in a wee while.

UK TV Ratings ‏@TVRatingsUK 9s
The new series of #CelebrityBigBrother launched with 2.36m/12.6% last night, 1.04m down the first episode of the last series in January.

Just looked at last year's summer CBB launched to 2.66m/2.83m (14.2%/15.5%). Only dropped 300k so not bad really.

That's actually a very good rating desipite being down. Remains to be seen whether it stays over 2m or not.

Wow, did better than I thought. I can see it growing throughout the week, they've got some good wacky characters in there.

Meh, around the same I expected. But best to compare it to summer launches, the same launch last summer got 2.83m so it was 470k down on that.

Expected being up against New Tricks, Long Lost Family and the football.

Edit- come to think of it, pretty decent because not only the competition but it was on for a long time! Breakdown? Did it decrease a lot?

Considering it ran until 2320, faced its toughest opposition to date for a launch show since coming to C5 and followed a very poor series of BB with an unpopular winner, it did well to only be down about -0.4m on last August which is the series C5 will compare with.

Really happy with that figure. I have no doubt it will be back on terms with last summer's series before long.

UK TV Ratings ‏@TVRatingsUK 1m
The eleventh series of #NewTricks kicked off on BBC1 with 5.79m/25.0%, well down on the 7.51m who tuned in to the start of series 10.

Gosh, wasn't expecting such a low rating for this to be honest. Think it might increase as the series progresses.

UK TV Ratings ‏@TVRatingsUK 25s
BBC2's new quiz #TwoTribes kicked off with a strong 1.57m/10.0%, putting it above the slot average. @richardosman

What it does show is that 'celebrity' culture is still popular with viewers. Despite many moaing about shows featuring them. I use that term loosely though given last night's housemates.

Solid start for CBB. I think New Tricks is the big story here though, that's a really poor start for it. Especially as it's back on Mondays which are its best night usually. The last Monday launch 2 years ago got an overnight of 7.8m, and 3 years ago it was 8.7m, also both in the Summer.

Maybe ITV shouldn't be so scared to air drama against it this Autumn after all.

Very poor for New Tricks - down almost 2m. It will probably have dented LLF quite heavily anyway.

Quite low for New Tricks. Maybe the competition was enough to dent it, or maybe people are starting to jump ship due to the changes. It's still a solid rating, just not by its own standards.

Nothing wrong with celebs - usual mix of household names, American stars and total z listers there to fill out the lineup - but potential to be tv gold.

Kelly Brook's boyfriend is the one example given in here against the show but is it really much worse than Strictly having Andy Murray's Mum? I accept she is more famous but not for anything other than who her son is !

Yeah I've never understood why they compare the winter and summer series. Not a bad figure

NT down quite a lot, maybe LLF will have been down a lot too because of NT and CBB?

It was definitely the most competitive slot in quite a long time.
