I can understand that and I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to be deliberately rude to people because it's not how I was brought up. I just find that having them in helps me deal with a lot of society in general.
Today being a good example - i'd just missed the bus back home so had to wait 25 minutes for the next one. A pensioner appeared at the bus stop as well after about 15 minutes and with about 2 minutes to go, a woman and, I assume, her five children all strolled up to the stop as well.
The bus came and it was my intention to let the pensioner on before me, but the woman's children just strolled straight on to the bus first. Obviously the pensioner isn't going to say anything and stood there until I said rather loudly "go on, you were here first" and motioned her to get on, which she did, and then I stepped in front of the woman and the remainder of her children who were
still trying to all pile on.
I know it's "only" a queue, but it's just that kind of self-centered, shitty attitude from some people that's a lot of the reason I use headphones when I'm out because it helps me block it out and, for the most part, ignore it.
