Every time a celebrity dies there are duplicate threads opened in half the subforums. Can't DS delegate just one of them as the appropriate place for obituary threads in future?

Getting every letter through the post but the letter you want.

That awful, patronising woman's voice on some people's answer phone. I hate it. It goes something like , 'I'm sorry no-one is here right now, SO ....' It's that awful 'SO' which I hate the most and when I hang up.

Some more from me:

1. When I answer the phone, say 'hello' and it's a recorded sales message.

2. People who don't understand the difference between a 'fact' and 'their opinion'. Just because you believe strongly in something, it doesn't automatically make it a fact.

3. Very obvious double-standards on political opinions. For example, Jeremy Corbyn has been a vocal critic of Guantanamo Bay for many years. Maybe he's right, BUT, I've NEVER heard a squeak from him about how his hero, Fidel Castro, had SIX prisons with far, far worse conditions.

4. People who think there is something virtuous about getting up early in the morning. NOT because you need to be in work, but just for its own sake. I used to know somebody who would describe people who weren't early risers as 'lazy sods' and such like. What he didn't acknowledge was that while he was generally in bed by 10pm, other people were enjoying themselves watching TV, or were in the pub, or spending time with their partners etc.

A female "celebrity" on the front page of papers or is the lead story on television programmes because she is pregnant.
Who cares ??
Yes the person in question cares, but why is this front page news ??

I find the same. For most of my life I've had to get up early. I hated it but it had to be done. Now, at the age of 71, I get up when I feel like it. I have a neighbour goes to bed by nine o'clock and up at seven in the morning, for nothing. I'd find that so boring. I'm not lazy I'm just making up for all those early starts. 😁

Amazon Sellers Who Can't Respond To Questions

I bought my nephew a radio controlled drone for Christmas and chose a model that not only had high reviews but supposedly came with a lot of additional accessories. The drone arrived but without anything else and five emails later the issue still persists.

Not only does the seller refuse to answer questions (they will write about completely different topics) but it's all done in that stupid text speak and ends with that nonsense "we value customer satisfaction" spiel at the end.

I'll leave it until Wednesday then if still not resolved, get a refund and take my chances with another seller.

Tis the season of Christmas tips!
We have 3 regular postmen. Two of them are lovely but one is a surly so and so. Anyhow come December he suddenly turned on this rictus grin. Yeah right. A bit too late mate. The other day as soon as he got back into his van I heard him effing and blinding at something or other. He can only keep up the charm offensive for so long it seems.....

Accepting Christmas tips

I'm a bit socially awkward and instinctively try to refuse tips and then end up flitting to over the top "Oh thank you that's really kind!" gratitude.

People with overly long names and addresses

I sold a few things on-line last night and am now in the process of writing out labels for all the envelopes. Not only do some people insist on having their first, middle and double barrelled names but they also add a whole load of nonsense to their address. How much do they think I can fit onto a small envelope?

Thank goodness for the post office address finder that removes all the useless junk and gives the correct address.

And for this reason, I'm glad my parents gave me a short-ish name. (minus my middle name, which only ever appears on anything official)

I had to send something to someone in Wales. I had to copy and his address because there's no way I could have remembered how to spell it.

If the presents not rectangular don't even bother putting it on your Christmas list, and no hardback books don't count as rectangular.

Thought it was just me The other thing that bugs the life out of me is on FB when somebody posts say losing a cat/dog and people share thats good . Then the said cat/dog is found and the person who put the post up doesnt delete it. Then you get people saying oh I hope Tiddles/Rover is back soon. TIDDLES/ROVER IS BACK HOME lol..

Oh and the other one on FB putting a picture up of a poorly child and saying if you share FB wil donate a £ or $ . No they wont ....

I don't blame them. To me the morning ends at lunchtime - 1pm!

Incidentally, the expression "12pm" annoys me a bit, as I'm never quite sure whether it's supposed to mean 12 noon or 12 midnight.

It annoys me when people say good evening when it's clearly night time.

Same here.

I just stick to 'noon' and 'midnight' to avoid confusion.

Isn't 12am midnight and pm noon?

Overly ridiculous e-mail addresses are even worse. My job entails contacting customers by e-mail and if it isn't already on the database I have to ring and ask for it. I get double underscore, x_x_12345, @ in the middle of the customer's name, ridiculous server provider names etc. I can usually tell a person's age if they put 19xx after their name!

No, neither. The correct term for the 12 O'clock at night is "12 Midnight" and the one in the day is "12 Noon" it is not correct to use either am or pm alongside the 12 O'clock. That's because am basically means before noon, pm is after noon. But 12:00 isn't before or after noon it IS noon and therefore can't be before or after itself.

Yep. Easier, clearer and correct.

12 midnight and 12 noon?

Does midnight or noon occur at any time other than 12? Seems odd to prefix midnight with the number, hmmm.
