I once spent a week putting data into a spreadsheet only to be told that it wasn't needed as my boss had changed suppliers and they provided their own data.

I realise that I was paid for the data entry. It was part of my job. But when you've spent a week doing a mind numbingly boring job and it turns out to be pointless work that is binned then it can make you very angry.

Again, not very trivial

I have a trivial annoyance for the thread.
On my bed the mattress cover messes up -one corner always peels off. It drives me mad, just seeing that corner makes me wanna punch something. The same corner everytime - I reckon they have lost shape and are too small for the mattress.

Yeah, but at the end of the day it's only work, it is no where near as important as most people think it is. (Joke).

I also have to input data every month into a spreadsheet that nobody else reads. But I know that sod's law dictates that the one time I miss it will be the first time someone decides to use it.

I have a very large folder on my PC at work called "Projects". This is where all the various spreadsheets go that I have spent weeks working on knowing full well that my boss will have moved on to something entirely different within a few days of assigning me the job, never to be opened again.

When an interesting/amusing video pops up on my Facebook page and I can't open it without agreeing to pass on all my info to Tom, Dick and Harry. So far I have avoided doing this but I'm afraid one day I shall give in and click on "I Agree" and then regret it forever.

People who have to make up 'hilarious' nicknames for contestants or judges in reality/ cooking type shows and use them at every opportunity. Not only is it annoying in a "haha look at me I'm so funny" kind of way, the nicknames are often so tenuous or subjective that I have no idea who they're talking about.

Pages that load in a stuttery fashion, leading me to click on the wrong thread on DS or opening one of the advert videos at the top of YouTube search results.

Seems a lovely guy but he has this habit of making little puns relating to the item under discussion ie re a horse figure - 'let's hope this one gets off to a gallop'. He manages to do this with so many of the flog-it items. It drives me bananas because I know it's coming and find myself gritting my teeth in anticipation..

The packets of supermarket own brand sliced cheese packs which are in a, supposedly, resealable pack but once opened the cover refuses to stick down properly so I end up covering the pack in clingfilm to preserve the cheese

I have a week off work this week and I'm already irritated. I promised myself I'd do productive tasks. Such as repair a shoe, clear out the 'bits & bobs' drawer in the kitchen, finish off tax paperwork, plan and book a trip, etc. Did I do those? Nope.

So far I watched two films, read three books*, read posts on forums, watched a couple of TV drama episodes, wound our cats up with a laser pen** and had a fun debate with a friend via IM about four films***.

Procrastination, argh.

Apologies profuse and profound for introducing the really serious topic of wanting food processors to be expunged from the face of the earth. Perhaps I should have just said that budgerigar bells which budgerigars never bother to bong, so the thread police would not break in and kill me.

And if you think that food processors are really serious and important matters then I am afraid you need to get off to the sweet shop and get some barley sugar to suck because you need to regain your sense of proportion. Food processors need to be expelled to hell and damnation for ever whether you think they matter or not.

People who moan about being ill/in pain but make no effort to do anything about it.

Where i work we are always either short staffed or just about right. If you have a headache, cold, stomach ache, water infection etc you are expected to carry on and just take painkillers. If you are lucky you might get a sypathetic team leader who will allow you to take a break early to have a drink and relax for a bit but thats it. In for years ive only ever been allowed home early once and that was because my symptoms got worse and i had developed a kidney infection!

A friend of mine though is continually being allowed home early from her job for minor things like headaches, period pains, feeling under the weather and so on. She refuses to take any medication so theres nothing she can do. Shes the type of person that would rather spend all day feeling uncomfortable and getting sympathy rather than take two paracetamol and be back to normal in half an hour!

My boss does that and it drives me round the bend.

People who describe intense pain as 'chronic'. It isn't, it's acute. A chronic condition is one that has lasted for a long time, from the Greek word 'chronos' - time. A chronic condition may or may not be extremely painful, but it will have lasted for a period of time.

So, if you are hit by sudden pain, and let's face it, we all are, it is 'acute' and not 'chronic'.

Loud talkers. Two ladies came into the shop behind me today and one of them was so bloody loud, and it seemed like I couldn't get away from them. It felt like she wanted people to overhear her, swearing a lot, etc. I can excuse this behavior in teenagers but I'd have thought a woman in her 30's would know better.

Ooh, I totally agree. That is so annoying - puns should be used sparingly. But my main gripe about Paul Martin is his stupid whispering voice so that by the end of every sentence, there is no sound coming out at all.

Griff Rhys-Jones is another one for that. If you are going to broadcast, for heaven's sake speak up, so that people can hear you!
