I thought that episode was awful and reminded me off something Lorraine Newman would off churned out. I was hoping this week would be a Slater centric week, but as per usual the Carters are the most prominent.
Don't you like the Carter's

4 J-B Points for the episode. Would have been 2 if Lauren wasn't in it.
10/10 Lauren

That episode was all over the place.

+ Lauren in that dress and Nancy in a wet tshirt..
+ Stan is a great character.
+ Excellent use of singing by Mick. Interesting choice going for Oasis instead of Blur for a Londoner though

- What the hell were the swimming scenes? Totally cringeworthy. I was waiting for Shirley to yell out 'COME ON SON' as the whole place went silent.
- Slater Exceptionalism is back in full force I see. I loathe every last one of them. Horrid characters that truly believe they are all above the law.
- Lily is a brat.
- I just don't care about Cora as she's a one dimensional fag ash breath hag. What a load of old rubbish taking up half the episode
Lily is not a brat and Jean was off with Lily. Did you like Kat when she was first in the show from 2000-2005 and do you think Jessie and Lacey are good at acting? Do you hate Jean as well and did you like Sean when he was in Eastenders?

Well that was one the worst episodes of EastEnders I've ever seen.
Great episode tonight. Just like the old days.
Love the diverse opinions in these threads!

That was a totally embarrassing half hour. Rubbish would be a compliment.

that swimming scene was so cringe. Seriously -.- still nice, but the song choice was overly cheesy, and why would everyone else be so happy Mick did one lap? they don't know his troubles, they'd be cheering Dean. He;s so hot is Dean!

Liked Stacey and Jean scenes, and the actress who plays Lilly feels really authentic with her acting which is rare for child actors

Strange little episode but I didn't hate it.

Jean using bipolar to get Stacey out of prison is a bit on the grey side, but it is what it is.

I'm in complete agreement. Those swimming scenes seemed completely out of place in a show like EastEnders.

Well it hasn't gone down to well on Facebook and some saying they or bipolar hate that when people use illness to think they can get away with anything which looks like what's going to happen with Stacey. Can see the complaints if they go down this root getting even worse.

That's obviously not all of it. Ian could still help Mick.
But what would be the point? Mick was the one that was caught. The only thing Ian could do now is tell Linda and kids that it was his fault. What more can he do? he wasn't there when the police showed up and not only that it would eventually come out where he was on Good Friday.

OK it wasn't the greatest but I actually enjoyed it...I think branding it the worst is a bit strong.

It was a bit out of sorts in places & the ending was crap admittedly.

Who cares what people on Facebook (of all places) say.

Yep I agree it wasn't the worse I can think of more worse episode the first and second week of June which was mostly about Tina, Tosh and Sonia and Snakegate last year was bad as well.

I absolutely loved the swimming scene! Eastenders has had too much doom and gloom recently and it was definitely a welcomed change on my behalf

Mick and Shirley - their relationship is so much like mother and son anyway, even though Mick doesn't know! - lovely scenes between them, as usual! The swimming was more about what it represented than the actual swim imo.

Loved how the camera panned to Dean while Mick was getting all the attention - Dean wants Mick's life.

Glad Jean is back, I'm not a fan of Stacey but I'll put up with her for Jean! Love Jean.

Ian and Mick had a lovely little bromance going on and now Ian is ruining it to save his own skin - weasel.

One negative - I now have ROAR in my head. Damn.

Nice to have some lighthearted scenes in EastEnders now and again.

The fact that Facebook hate characters like Ian, Sharon and Phil yet were totally in love with Joey Branning says it all.

Exactly MG can think of a few far worse.

Let's dive in, shall we?

Well, Danny Dyer did a very good job tonight, showing us Mick facing his greatest fear. But... I don't get it. Shirley and Mick treated that like he was "washing" away the fact she tried to drown him. Well, he might have conquered his fear but, urm, she still tried to drown him.

I can't decide whether that whole Katy Perry thing was absolute tosh or light hearted tosh slotted in for a bit of a laugh. I'm going to go with the former I think. I'm not sure what purpose it served at all really. But hell, least it was with the Carters.

It seems DTC listened. Stacey's back, and we didn't have about 10 cliffhangers leading up to it (at least, I don't think so... not watched for a little bit... but she was just in it, so I assume there hasn't been a few Stacey duff duffs). Erm, color me confused. Stacey confessed to sneaking into a pub and killing a man in cold blood. She showed intent to kill. Not to injure, to kill. She should be serving a life sentence.

See, I thought it was a decreased sentence because of her bi-pola. It was never said on screen, but I automatically assumed that, because I say again - cold blood, murder, intent. Unlike Dominic Treadwell-Collins, a Judge isn't going to go lenient on Stacey because it's Stacey. I thought she used her bi-pola, and the fact Archie raped her, to gain sympathy and a reduced sentence. Apparently not. Oh, how the bad writing has returned with Stacey. I just can't wait to see her back on the square, ruining every character she interacts with.

And, congratulations EastEnders. You have Dean. You have Lee. Two young men who are actually interesting and are not just there to be beef cake. Or so I thought. Not content with shoving Lee with Whitney as though we give a crap about the latest mug that slut has conned into bed with her, you're now doing the same with Dean and Lauren. How very Newman of you. I don't mince words when I say that is, literally, akin to killing off your character. Now we'll have to suffer yet another romance plot featuring the ever dependably awful Lauren and Whitney. I just don't give a Tosh.

Anything good here? Ian and Raine, and poor Mick being dragged into the middle of it. But, urm, yeah, not sure what they were thinking with this one.

I always like it when we get out of the square for a bit so the scenes at the swimming baths were welcome. Loved it when the kids jumped in the pool.

I've no idea how this appeal will work. It seems a bit far fetched ATM.

I always notice that Les is a different man when he's with Janet...she makes him smile.

OK episode.

That's true, you can tell the older actors really love working with her. Most if not all other soap kids need brutally axing.

You can't axe kids just for the sake of it so for example Lexi can't be axed unless Lola was leaving and if Janine returns then Scarlett wouldn't be axed unless Janine left and Dennis wouldn't leave unless Sharon left. Its the same in Coronation Street and Emmerdale Sarah wouldn't leave unless Debbie leaves and Gabby wouldn't leave unless Bernice and Ashley were leaving and Belle wouldn't have left as a younger child unless Zak or Lisa left and Amy wouldn't leave unless Tracy or Steve leave. Unless the parents are leaving then the kids should leave too but if onscreen parents on leaving then its fine I mean Peter and Lucy wouldn't have left walford on their own at 5 or 6 now would they unless Ian left. And Bobby wouldn't leave unless Ian or Jane were leaving. There needs to be more than 1 child in all soaps Walford is a community and in real life in a community there are more kids than Eastenders. Some kids are bras in real life but their parents don't send them away do they and they wouldn't leave home in real life. I bet all the younger cast like Harry Hickles and Maisie Smith and Devon Higgs and all kids from other soaps are not brats in real life.
Its not the younger casts fault if their character is written as a brat is it?
This is a clip of Harry and he seems a lovely boy in real life
