Ben dropped dead after a fight with Luke so the Dingle's jumped to conclusions and blamed Luke for his death. Luke's dad Bernard was the doctor who treated Ben so they believed the heart defect story was a cover up created by Bernard and his colleagues to get Luke off the hook. This was nonsense though of course.
