Hello candidates, and welcome to the fifth boardroom!

What are your current feelings regarding this task? Did you enjoy it?

Hello Lord Sugar.

I think this task went well for us in terms of the final pitches Team Aptitude had produced. I do think that this task maybe wasn't in my comfort zone so I maybe didn't enjoy it as much as other tasks though i did enjoy the buyer/seller pitch as it was something different.

Very nervous, I have no idea which way this is going to go. I think we've done well but this is the least confident I have felt. I found myself surprised as to how much I enjoyed it, it was a rather different experience to what I'm used to.

From looking at our pitches, I think that ours seemed to go better than the other team's. We will hopefully win this task.

Hello Lord Sugar.

My thoughts on the task is that it was good and that I showed more improvement this week.

I'll start with Team Aptitude.

Iain this was your 2nd time PMing in quite a short period, how did you find it this time? And how did you come about the decision to be PM?

For the rest of the team - what are your views on Iain as PM for this task?

Hi Lord Sugar. I really enjoyed this task giving me an opportunity to find an amazing artist who I really like and explore his work, backstories etc. I have learned a lot about art in general this task. I am still feeling as nervous as ever about how this will go though.

I thought Iain was a good PM. He knew what needed to be done and when it needed to be done for. I think everyone knew what they were doing and we were all able to see and critique each others work.

For Team Inspired:

Shadi, obviously this was your first time as PM and you were the last to do it - was this the sole reason for you choosing to be PM or were other factors considered? How did you find being PM for this task?

And for the rest of the team - your views on Shadi as PM?

I liked working with Shadi. Most of the work I did for this task was individual, so I didn't really see that much of Shadi in group discussions, but he delegated things well and we all knew what we were doing.

I believe that Iain did terrific as PM, way much better than I was last week.

Yes, I found it surprisingly easy, I had a clear strategy in my head of how we were going to go about the task despite our clear disadvantage of not knowing much about art. It came about from me being the least reluctant to lead this task and making the critical decisions quickly. I felt that on the whole I was a better leader than before made easier by having a stronger knowledge of my team.
Shadi.

I've been wanting to be PM since the second task so I was thrilled to finally be able to do it. When I first read the task I did feel that it was out of my wheelhouse but I love a good challenge, and I believe it paid off!

Personally I thought Shadi was great. He got everything organized and delegated straight away and due to an absence on the first day which was unavoidable for personal reasons the delegation did not go to plan. So he decided to do part of that particular pitch by himself. I found that quite resourceful and showing a bit of initiative which was great. He was helpful throughout the task too always there if we needed anything.

Okay, so looks like a good performance from both PMs judging on that feedback.

Getting on to the task itself, obviously this task was a little different to the others in terms of involving seperate pitches with a specific buyers. Can each team tell me how you went about doing this? Did you work on the pitches as a team or do all your work separately? And how did you decided who would do each pitch?
Shadi.

Oh and I loved this task, I think we did a great job and we worked well as a team. It all went smoothly.

There were three pitches and three members of the team, so we did decide to each do our own separate pitch. However, everyone got to see all the pitches and give their critique and opinions. I got Still Life as i had already been researching it before the whole team had assembled and Iain and Steve got Abstract and Models respectively probably due to personal choice.
Shadi.

We worked on every pitch individually. I have worked with George and Roxie before so I trusted them with getting the job done. I was always there dor guidance and I laid out the basic demands of this task to each and left them autonomous. Arran was supposed to do the third pitch but was unavailable the first day so I took it upon myself to do his work. As for the delegation, Roxie expressed interest in abstract and surrealism so I let her do it. I had begun my research on still art so George had to automatically do the sculptures.

So we had one person delegated for overall responsibility of each pitch with Shadi overseeing everything. I straight away voiced my opinion to do the abstract art pitch as I find the subject really interesting and found it a valuable learning experience, so Shadi delegated that pitch well in finding someone who was particularly passionate about that aspect of art.

Other than that we were meant to collaborate I think, see each other's pitches and give some constructive critique. We all came up with a few suggestions for each other and these were all noted accordingly, and pitches were adjusted accordingly.
Shadi.

But I had of course asked everyone to show me their pitches before submission for review.

Do you feel there wasn't really much of a feeling of you working as a team for this task then? I know you were given seperate pitches to do, but this was still a team based task...
_NiallDEE_

Also for Team Inspired - I noticed that Arran wasn't actually involved in the delivery of any of the pitches for your team. I don't think he's here right now, but can someone tell me what exactly he did on this task?
Shadi.
05-08-2014
As Roxie mentioned, on day 2 we exchangrsI pitches and gave eachother notes and tips about what to change and what we like best etc. And the skype chat was always bumped throughout the day, we discussed many things as a team so we did work as a team 100%. Each one had a distinct task but we worked in great sync and harmony.

Personally for both teams I think this was the best technique for doing it really. As the person whose researched about the artwork and artist can also quite easily comment about the other sections of the pitch like interpretations and pricing, so one person per pitch was definitely the most sound way of doing it.

I did think that there was less of a team element this task but we were all still giving each other ideas. I remember on the first day Shadi and I were exchanging ideas about potential artists for each of the pitches and then on the second day George and I commented constructively about Shadi's pitch. So there was definitely some notable collaboration going on.

The idea was each person worked on their pitch to save time on getting the pitches finished on time and then the team work came in by making all the decisions together and editing the pitches together. I felt there was still very much a team aspect to how we did this.
