So went up to Manchester yesterday and to the old Granada studios to go on the Corrie tour. I really recommend any fan to go as it is quite unique and surreal in parts.

First you are taken into cast green rooms, dressing rooms and the make up studio, and then you are lead by your guide to see such sets as the factory, the Rovers (of course) and Gail's house (which you will not believe the size of).

Finally you are lead through the doors of Nick's Bistro and out into the street, which is utterly surreal walking down those cobbles! Pictures are welcomed here and you're free to explore this bit for as long as you so wish.

Anyone else been?

Apparently when the EastEnders backlot has been made bigger at Elstree they are planning on letting the public see the wooden facade being erected for outside filming when work is in progress.

I've been twice and am planning on going again for it's final week.... Am hoping they might allow people inside the houses before it's closed for good and knocked down!!

I'm going in two weeks time. I can't wait! Although I noticed the other night that the e-ticket is in Mr Kivi's name since I paid with his card (although the Ticketmaster account is in my name). Does this matter? Do you get ID'd? He's not coming as he'll be laid up in hospital that week

No, you aren't ID'd.

The team at the entrance to the tour scan the barcode on your ticket, that's all.

Sorry to hear your OH is going to be in hospital that week

Did you walk down a corridor and see the sets of the cafe, etc.. behind a glass screen. I went on the tour in 97 and that is what I remember.

They also filmed someone who was on the tour to do a news segment which was shown on a TV screen.

Thanks! Weight off my mind Don't be sorry - his op is the excuse I needed to go on the tour between visiting hours since I'm stuck in Manchester
