I have been looking forward to this reveal for a few months now, especially as I have been able to upgrade since the start of July. but had decided to hold out & see what the Note 4 brings in September. As I have been an S3 owner for the last 2 years & an S2 owner prior to that, a change to a Phablet device, will make a pleasant change.

I'd been looking forward to the note 4 - but my love of samsung is waning,.
I love the hardware but - Sending in an old tablet recently for service took a month. Yes a MONTH. That isn't good enough - Receiving a new note 10.1 2014 and finding it was on 4.3 with no update available in UK (don't worry, I installed the spanish firmware!) reminded me of the manufacturers continued lag issues with core OS updates So tbh this is driving me more towards - Google nexus - bang up to date, decent price, pretty good specs (but no OLED, and not quite as snazzy) - Apple iPhone. Yes I can't believe I say that, but apple have the OS udpates more well sorted. Still feel it could be closed but.. Samsung's approach just is starting to grate on me |

You seem to be placing huge emphasis on updates rather than the actual hardware you receive. I doubt very much there is anything in those updates you would die in a ditch over, possibly? Having the very latest OS is not a substitute for having better hardware or hardware you prefer.
However as you say if updates are essential for you a Nexus/iphone is probably better, just be careful what you wish for

Aye, since my friends Samsung S3 went to 4.3 it has been pretty much useless, laggy. Even Music wont play properly (stuttering and no fix for stock). Samsung really dropped the ball with that update and then abandoned the phone.

Probably won't get the note 4. Still very happy with my note 3 and will stick with it for another year. For a phone that is nearly a year old it feels as good as the other 2014 flag ships from recent months.

Indonesian retailer Erafone is claiming that the new flagship will arrive with a 5.7-inch 1,440 x 2,560 (515 ppi) Super AMOLED display and a 16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization. Like other Samsung units, the device will come in two variants, one packing a quad-core Snapdragon 805 (SM-N910S) and an octa-core version running an Exynos 5433 (SM-N910C) that we assume will remain in Korea. Rounding out the notable specs are 4GB RAM, up to 128GB of microSD card storage and Android KitKat 4.4.3.

I wouldn't have thought they would release a new phone with an out of date OS.
This is the Note 4 flagship. Everyone else is currently receiving Kitkat 4.4.4 and they're dishing it out with 4.3 on board?
