Why is Eastenders becoming so Cheesy and Corny?

It's not just the Carters who brought about CringeEnders this week (though they are usually the main culprits). What about that scene between Whitney and Liam in the cafe when she lectured him about WW1? That was completely forced and felt like something from a movie of the week.

I'm a DTC and Carter supporter. I think they've both done wonders for EastEnders this year. But I'm going to be totally honest when I say that at times, increasingly moreso in the last several weeks, that it feels like Lorriane Newman is still in the building.

I caught EE as I was at My Mums and she is one of the few who have stayed loyal to the show.

I understand Mick overcoming his fears and it was a nice positive storyline, however I do agree it is becoming cheesy. Adding to that, I think there is over reliance on this Carter family imo. I know the Brannings, Mitchelles et al have been dominant but this lot take the mick!

I do land based stuff as well it is fantastic not just for your physical health but mental health too.

Swimming is a good thing to do have especially if you live near the sea, river, big lakes etc. Also pretty much anyone can do it old/young/fat/thin/male/female etc because its low impact and wont bear on your joints at all.
For me its about the toning. I am slim but I prefer a bit of toning as I look awful without it which swimming is great for.”

Thank you for informing us.

It could of been a really uplifting scene, Mick over coming his fears. But no they just had to turn it into one massive cheese festival didn't they. You've got this that awful karaoke scene and Aunt Babe doing her best Phil Mitchel impression and Tina who is meant to be 40 but acts like a teenager.

Will we ever get a rest from this overbearing and overrated family.

At least she is staying true to her character, letting her lady garden rule her life for her.

I know everyone loves the Carters but I don't like Babe, or Tina and I don't care if he has been to acting school Lee is wooden and has no chemistry with Whitney at all.

I didn't mind it I liked the episode but I can see what you mean, worse still I do think the show will fall again if they keep ramming the Carters at us I'm sick of the sight of most of them.

I didn't like the scene were Mick was singing in the car either. He even managed to overact that.

I LOVE the Carters! If people think they're too cheesy thats fair enough but they're watchable, they're not boring, they're fun and they fit into the show. They're shown a lot because they're in the Vic and its lovely to have that light relief there in the background during the gloomier storylines like Carol's cancer, Lucy's murder, Jean slitting her wrists etc.

Its a far, far cry from Newman's 'love and warmth' era portrayed through drippy Fatboy and Poppy or Alfie Moon being ridiculous everywhere. There's a nice mix between dark and light and while the Carters might be providing most of the light, I'm certainly enjoying it. DTC is doing well imo.
