Lizzie Roper CLEARLY not happy with Hollyoaks exit
Woww. I'm having a picnic while watching Lizzie Roper's twitter account as she responds to fan questions.
She doesn't sound very happy with her exit.. understandably! Getting killed off by a van, sounds a bit harsh! https://twitter.com/lizzieroper/stat...18622301818881 https://twitter.com/lizzieroper/stat...19270112083968 https://twitter.com/lizzieroper/stat...19723453435905 https://twitter.com/lizzieroper/stat...19912809492480 Personally, I'm chuffed she's gone. Couldn't stand, Sam! Though I have to say, her last few scenes with Cameron in the woods were her best and Lizzie really stood out! |

The death was truly pointless, Sam was a great character, I liked her scenes, she played a key part in the JP rape story!
I'm not sure if HO has thought this through, |

I liked Sam. I know we all took the piss about how she was super Sam but she was a good character AND just because we all took the piss it was no reason to axe her.
BK just seems to like killing characters off but at the same time I think he reacts too quick to audience feedback and makes the wrong decisions time and time again. |

I think it was a big mistake killing Sam. Too soon after the peri reveal and too much for the kid to deal with with the Leela reveal. Much too set up and she would've played a key part in the rape reveal, especially as she admitted to Ste that he knew. Sam could've gone a long way. Feel sorry for her.

It's a shame, she really doesn't seem happy about the way things have gone.

I think she has a right to be peeved, ok no soap job is guaranteed for life, but she only been on less then a year and was part of a new family that had started to become established, I think it was a cop-out like pretty much the feeling behind every pointless death on HO in the last two years!
The show is dead of imagination, creativity and any emotion behind storylines or characters, viewers can't get attached or invested anymore because the likelihood is there be killed off next week. |

I don't blame any actor for being miffed at losing their job, but I'm honestly surprised that so many people think it was a bad decision to axe Sam and Danny,
They were both decent enough actors, by HOs standards, although nothing above average, but I thought they were both terrible, unlikeable characters. And surely once Sam had been turned into a typical Hollyoaks corrupt cop, it was only a matter of time? I'm surprised that Kirkwood passed by the opportunity to have a gay love triangle with Ste, JP and Danny, though!

Agree with her, very bad idea to kill them both off esp so soon after the Peri reveal
Not one of kirkwoods better ideas |

Hollyoaks seem to only kill characters off for the 'shock factor,' and it's really unnecessary

Both characters had so much more mileage left, I think it was done for the simple reason it was the six weeks of summer and they needed to pull something shocking out of the bag.

Once it was revealed Sam fitted up Cameron and sent him to prison for 14 years, there was nowhere for the character to go but be written out.
And any potential Danny had as Ste's father was trashed early on when it was clear he was more interested in shagging young men than building a relationship with his son. Why bring in Ste's real father for that? Such a waste. I wonder what the point of either of them was. A few OMG moments and a car crash do not make up for proper character-led storytelling and building a family around a long-standing established character. I'm pleased both actors have got subsequent work. |

Danny was an unlikeable character, and Sam wasn't exactly endearing, but killing them off now feels like short sightedness, IMO. I could understand writing them out after the rape reveal and once the Peri situation had settled, but now feels premature and abrupt.
It's like the time they killed off Anna Blake prematurely for no real reason; they never did tie up her lose ends. Now they've killed off Sam & Danny in the midst of major story. I wanted to see Danny's reaction to learning about JP's rape, and seeing Sam involved in arresting Finn. It also seems pointless giving Ste a family and introducing a nuclear family, only to wipe out the parents a year later. They pile on so much misery on to these characters in a short space of time, they all should be psychologically messed up. |

I think Sam could have stayed on but really they would have had to backtrack on the bad cop bit. She herself could go to jail for what she did to Cameron. But it did show she had more facets to her. Depending on where they go with Cindy I could have seen Sam and Dirk getting together.

I've missed the show for a couple of weeks, but really surprised by this news.
Part of me is pleased, though. I think the Lizzie Roper is an incredibly strong actress and I want her in EastEnders. She'll be amazing. |

Yet Mercedes who has been stuck on repeat for years lives on and we've got the god awful Theresa returning.

No disrespect to Lizzie, she seems like a lovely lady from what I've seen and read about her, and she's an OK actress, but I really didn't think she was that great. She fitted the part well, though, I'll give you that, and being the best actress in the world is not a requirement of the soap genre.
Mind you, I thought the lady who played Anna Blake was dreadful, and everyone raved about her. |

If I was Lizzie Roper I wouldn't be happy either. Bad, sloppy storytelling. It's like the HO bosses had a total change of heart about four weeks ago and decided to take the whole family, very suddenly in a different direction. I can see other ways in which these characters could either have been written out, or developed differently that would have resulted in far more suspense and drama than this incredibly quickly forgotten, sloppy writing will have.

It was almost like they wanted the characters to crash and burn before they killed them so it was basically end of the road for them. Having Sam fit up Cameron had no impact what so ever, having Cameron released from prison without going the road of having Sam fitting up would have had been more interesting. As for a Danny, his character went from bring a family man to a man chaser and back to a family man, would have been Better having him around now to see his reaction to Ste and John Paul. Seem silly bringing in the family for Ste and then start wrecking straight away.
