88% of 16-24 year olds have Smartphone
Almost nine in ten (88%) of 16- to 24-year-olds now own a smartphone, compared to 14% among those aged 65+, according to new Ofcom research. Smartphone ownership has increased rapidly over the past twelve months in the UK, rising to 61% of adults, compared to 51% a year earlier.
Three and EE have the highest Smarphone penetration with Vodafone and O2 the lowest with O2 only managing 50%. I had called O2 and Vodafone the Golden Oldies networks during the week and this shows that their core demographic is indeed older customers. http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/news/in...ays-ofcom.aspx |

Doesn't surprise me. The kids I know prefer their smartphone over their laptops, even for web browsing. Or maybe because their smartphone is their main message device they can't be bothered using another device for web browsing so they just put up with it.
