Ahh, Jean's back properly tonight.
Look, I know Jean's very popular on here, and Gillian White really is a good actress, but I've never been a Jean fan. Yes, I know the character is mentally ill and is supposed to be marmite, but she's just always annoyed the hell out of me. So, she's gone off the rails again has she, because Stacey won't appeal against a conviction (that she confessed to, you know, cold bloodied murder, and got 5 years for (hey, this is the same show that let Janine confess not only to murder, but setting someone else up for it, and walk away). So, not only has Kat got the man of her dreams but just isn't satisfied without Stacey in her life, the same is also true of Jean. I suppose it makes more sense where she's concerned.
So, Stacey's going to appeal her conviction because her family need her. Cue them all returning to the square. I guess, after she went to prison willingly, this was the only way she'd return. Though why they all think having Stacey in their lives is necessary I'll never know. Dominic Treadwell-Collins may be obsessed with her, but not everyone is. Oh well.
And tell me? Why is Aleks such a prick? I'm not sure what he gets from getting rid of Alfie's stall. It's not like he's gaining any money. There's nothing in it for him, apart from him being able to rub his hands together at the thought of kicking a soon to be the father of newborns off his livelihood. A cheap ploy to make us hate Aleks. For some reason. I think his head's on the chopping block when Ronnie returns.
Everywhere else, though, is pretty good. I really, really like Mick. I really, really like Danny Dyer playing him. A typical EE cliche is Mick not telling Linda, her finding out, believing the worst and kicking him out. In fact, I was so sure this is what they were going to do that I almost didn't bother watching. But Mick and Linda just keep on surprising us. DTC really is playing the long game with these two. We keep on expecting something bad to happen, but it never does. It does make them kind of unique as far as EE goes, and it's proof that you don't have to constantly have affair drama and baby plots to make a couple work.
How many times, however, have we heard Ian go on about his "one stupid moment" mistakes? You know, I think they offed Lucy to try and make him more interesting too. Least it's working.
Oh yeah. And the couple we all can't wait to see. Lauren and Dean. Couple this up with Lee and Whitney and we may have some truly amazing TV on our hands. If your name is Lorraine Newman. Least we got some Dean/Stan scenes. This is a relationship I definitely want to see more of. Or just Stan in general.
