Deano was the idiotic cheeky young guy trying his luck with any woman he liked...and never got anywhere. He was easily led and got into trouble a lot over stupid things. Dean is a million miles away from that. Both he and Stacey have matured really well in terms of their character. Both are quieter in the way they interact with people for starters.

I don't know why Linda would be bothered by what that community thinks anyway. Cora's son-in-law has cheated multiple times, including with a woman who sold herself for sex (Kirsty).
