It's about one restuarant so how does that translate to much broader KFC hygiene standards?

"A Falmouth restaurant which had previously been awarded the top national hygiene rating .............."
It was a flood.
I bet the staff were too scared to close it for repercussions.
The Area manager closed it after the environmental health bods found out.

Each restaurant has its own hygiene rating. My local KFC is incredibly clean .. I've seen others that aren't so much.

It's the same with McDonald's too.

5 is the wrost rating isn't it?

It must be that time of the year as there have been a load of unclean KFC or McD threads recently.

They're franchises. One might be managed/owned by a shoddy person and employs shoddy staff.

The fast food chains around here all seem perfectly acceptable. They are clean and give you your correct order.

If we're referring to the "scores on the doors" rating system then 5 is top rating.

Just looked at the scores on the doors and all 4 McDonalds in my town get 5, as do all 4 KFC's.

I was reading an article the other day and it was the other way around. 0 was excellent and 5 was worst.

McDonalds came out really well in that.

FOUR years ago!!

I don't have issues with any of the KFC's or McD's. They've all got top marks.

http://www.nottinghampost.com/Hyson-...ail/story.html That would be more worrying for me TBH.

You've been dining at zero rated establishments based on that?

The one I read a score of 0, 1 or 2 out of 5 was considrered bad.

If you click on the highlighted link word "ratings in that article - 2nd paragraph "Cleanliness" - you get to this:

http://multimedia.food.gov.uk/multim...fhrs-wales.pdf
If you look closely you see that 5 is very good and 0 is urgent improvement required.

Further down:
"A restaurant is considered unsatisfactory if it scores 0, 1 or 2 (out of 5) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, or as "improvement required" in Scotland."
