Most ITF fans discovering Hollyoaks have really spot on views about Brendan/Ste/Stendan, but I've just seen this one person saying that Brendan is "quite" a good character and that none of the actors are as good as him (Kieron? ) and how Emmett's gone from being an abusive character to someone who views his loved one as "chosen."

Yes Brendan's abusive, but I fail to see how someone could miss the way that Brendan's whole life revolves around Ste. Ste's basically his God. Simon's only known Kieren a short amount of time, and as Dom Mitchell said, he falls in "love" with anything that'll give him some hope. Did they also miss the part where Simon was going to murder Kieren?

Hmm that is a strange thing to say. I don't see the point in comparing the two ships, they have nothing to do with each other except the same actor is involved in them. People shouldn't devalue one ship in order to support another. There's a difference between disliking a ship and actively opposing it because it's a 'threat' to your OTP.

It also annoyed me when I saw someone saying that it's nice that Emmett has fans who are watching Hollyoaks, but not to ship Stendan because they're abusive.

The childish part of me was all we saw him first, we were the original fans anyway

That's hilarious. Do they realise how proud of Stendan Emmett is? I don't like it when people say things like that as though they're morally superior when the majority of the time it's nothing to do with the violence at all.

Exactly. Most ITF fans seem lovely. It's only been one or two comments, but I get protective. It's weird seeing them acting like Stendan were this tiny little thing and that Simon/him and Kieren are far superior.

People in general love more what they watch first... so if they fell in love with Simon/Siren first and then they discovered Stendan because of it, they are probably going to always prefer Siren...

However, I've seen ITF fans who are very, very obsessed with Stendan now, and that makes me happy!!

I also agree that it makes no sense whatsover to compare those two relationships. Hell, the shows don't even exist in the same dimension! One is a soap with thousands of episodes; the other has 9 episodes in total and has zombies!!!
