I used to be an avid Apple fan but have had my eyes opened to a whole new world of Android which I love.

Most people I know who have switched from Apple to Android have sworn they will never goback. Make of that what you will.

The only way I would go back to Apple is if.......

They added removable storage (not everyone wants to use their data allowance to get stuff from cloud services / Not everyone can get a good enough signal to get stuff from cloud services at any given time).

Removable battery

Basic features like install from unknown sources without the need of Jailbreaking, more personalization of the home screen without restrictions, drag and drop music & video without the piece of sh!t that is iToons.

Keep support of the likes of Spotify for devices once they go out of date, it was disgusting the way the tools at Apple treated 3rd Gen touch owners for the use of Spotify. As they can no longer use the software, unless they upgrade to a 4th Gen touch or newer !.

I always enjoyed Apple devices better once they were Jailbroken & removed Apple's lame restrictions, but thankfully with Android there are no restrictions like that, so no need to think about returning to Apple.

Cheap handsets which means that if the kids lose/damage them I do not get too upset.

Quite like widgets, my obsession with the weather is satisfied.

That's about it.

Don't the majority of Android users select their phone of choice, the OS is just a by-product for them? Not many of the people I know deliberately chose their Sony, Samsung etc because it has android.

That is only sort of true. I wanted cheapish phones and I looked at windows as an option, but the app support (at the time) was good enough, so android was the only option.

Funny, I'm the other way round. I went Android first then went iOS and i much prefer iOS and don't miss the Samsung Galaxy S2 one bit.

The S3 was arguably the worst of all the flagship Galaxy phones, the quality of build materials was low, and it's an old phone without much to recommend anymore.

I think the S4 LTE version is the lowest I would buy if I was currently looking for a Galaxy handset.

When my iPhone 4 was stolen I only had 1.5 months to go before I could upgrade so didn't want to pay too much for a phone just to use for a month or so. Back in 2012 I paid about £100 for the Samsung Galaxy Y (and so began my love affair with Samsung)

Back then I would have loved to pick up something equivalent to the S3 for not much more than the galaxy y.

Not sure how you have that view, the s2/3 changed the way all manufacturers produce new phones. Those two were miles ahead of the competition at the time making everyone up their game.

I would agree with the S2, it was a well made phone, when I first saw the S3 I thought it was a cheap display dummy, the quality of the plastic used was horrible, reminding me of low grade recycled plastic. It was like a budget handset with good features at a premium price.

The S4 at least bought a return to the feeling of being a well made phone.

I use Android exclusively on phones. I tried a 5S briefly, but too small and a little too limited.

However the iPad is still the best tablet. Mainly due to the quality of the apps. Partially for the build quality and, arguably, the 4:3 resolution.

As soon as there's an Android tab to match the iPad then I'll be onboard.

I'm already using a Chromebook in preference to Windows, and I'm preferring that too, especially when you think how it performs compared to even expensive windows laptops, considering it was so cheap you wouldn't mind if it broke. As long as I've got something windows kicking about, no matter how crap, its not a problem.

I disagree. I came from an iPad and now have the Sony xperia z tablet and its streets ahead of the iPad.

As above. There are many.
