It's obviously my opinion.

I personally like having one thing I want to look like at a time on my screen, accessible by a single tap or swipe.

I'm not a fan of pages full of widgets that don't even match or line up properly.

Some widgets are useful (I never said they were all bollocks just most of them IMO), but most of them just seem pointless to me. Why would I wish to see BBC news in a 4x1 area rather than a full screen? Each to their own I guess.
Try resizing them.

Being completely honest,

How many people do you actually know that have genuinely made that switch from Apple to Android?

Out of the that number of people, how many actually moved because they decided that Android was genuinely more suitable for them (i.e, not just because they fancied a change of OS &/or handset)?

Genuine question.
Me. I changed as I didn't like a few things about iOS. My dad which absolutely gobsmacked me the other day when he told me he bought a Samsung s5 moved after playing about with the S5 he prefered the way it looked and behaved. He was like CP, the biggest apple fan you have ever seen! My Nana moved from iOS to android after playing about with my xperia z tablet she prefered the os to the iPads. And my sister moved as she preferred android.

But if you prefer a simple app launcher with rows of icons (that "line up properly") then thats the freedom of choice you have - but its not really on topic in a thread named "Another Reason why I choose Android". You might be better posting those kinds of things in the Another Reason why I choose Apple thread.
Bit of a silly thing to say that just because I end up preferring doing things that way that I should be on an apple thread. Plenty of droid users do it that way too. There's more to android than just widgets, although that is one advantage, I agree, I just don't think many of them have much use.

Take the Facebook widget (might have changed now but I wouldn't know). It took up half your screen to show one update, with little arrow buttons to jump to the next one. If you wanted to comment you had to tap on it and then it takes you in to the full app anyway. Ugly and inefficient.

No two widgets from two different companies ever look the same either. Hell even most of Google's own widgets don't match!

I'll concede some of them are probably more useful on a tablet with its greater real estate.

Try resizing them.
I know that but I'm a bit ocd with things that don't match and resizing isn't going to did that for me. Been there and wasted countless hours on it... Used to be a hobby (if you can call it that) designing home screens. I try to limit that though as it's a massive waste of time when I 'could' be doing something "productive"

I made the leap from Apple to Android a few weeks ago. No huge reason other than I fancied a change after three iPhones.

If you want to embrace your inner, slightly ocd, geek then it really is nirvana.

The two best reasons to go android for me so far are launchers (I'm on Nova) and Tasker.

My home screens are a thing of beauty, if I do say so myself and as I leave work my phone launches maps automatically with my home selected and send a text to Mrs Pavster to tell her I'm on my way.

That's long being a use for the claimed useless NFC tags.
People will tap one in their car etc to do similar.

You don't need nfc tags to do it.

Why? Is there a problem with location services?

So have you never every had network loss etc?

I've asked you a question I thought you might know the answer to, maybe not.

I used tasker briefly a while ago, and had no problems with it.

Yeh, thats the weird thing, you never claim to own an iPhone you usually support.
Quite obviously, the very useful Android Tasker can go wrong. Location relies on the network being always on/ having no interference.

My HP laptop has never gone wrong, it does not meant it is 100% so please please forget that 'no problem' argument thing you love.

How can I claim to own something that I dont I've told you many times, I have an iPad which is where my interest in apple comes from.

Not really sure what the discussion had to do with iPhone anyway, it seems you want to include it in every conversation.

You referred to the usefulness of nfc tags, and I pointed out they are not needed. Particularly in the example the poster gave, if there is no network connection, the SMS wouldn't be sent anyway, so not much point tagging the device.

Yeh, sorry you are just my stalker. I forget it sometimes has nothing to do with the iPhone.

'I have no problem', hell I have that with most of the stuff I own !
