No not really - admitting he is conventionally good-looking and finding him attractive are two different things.

Here's something to consider..

Maybe conventionally good looking people are boring because they've never had to try very hard to be popular. They always get invited to parties and get attention from the opposite sex based on their looks and not their personalities.

I'd say this is most probably the case with someone like Winston.

So to give you another hypothetical scenario: If Winston wasn't good looking, would he be more interesting and thus more likely to be popular with the viewers?

What? I like Chris because he's intelligent and has interesting diary rooms, Winston just shouted stupid catchphrases and had no storyline.

Personally I didn't think Winston was very attractive either.

Nobody is perfect, but Winston did seem to lack mental range. If we put the mind of a Chris in Matthew's head, with Winston's body and Marlon's genitals, we could have the makings of a superman.

If you actually stopped to think for 2 minutes before posting your brain might work out that it's not actually a fact, as many conventionally unattractive male (and female) housemates have been hugely unpopular, both on DS and with the general public.

As ignorant as your own childlike insinuation?

I feel there is much more prejudice against him because of his accent and speech pattern - we dwouldn't even have to change anything he says, and suddenly he would be popular.

But it is clear to see that in many posts slagging off Winston, the word 'gormless' is frequently used and his looks are widely criticised - just look at this thread.

Winston is conventionally good-looking and people do not like this head start, although it was not a subject which was perpetually brought up in Aaron's case, where his accent was acceptable and his looks a bonus.”

His accent is a bog standard South East accent which most of us from that part of the country have (or similar) so unless someone is prejudiced against an entire chunk of the UK, I don't understand how his accent comes into it.
Also, I really don't think he is conventionally attractive at all. IMO, he's a typical gym bunny time who might have a good body but isn't particularly good looking facially. When you really look at him, he isn't anything special

For me, it's about him jumping on the TOWIE bandwagon, like many these days and thinking that was enough to coast through to the final despite bringing very little to the party.

Chris and Christopher are maybe not as stereotype good looking but I would be more attracted to them as you could hold a conversation with them. Winston was lacking in that department.

Then you should know better that irregardless of who is considered "good looking" - which really is selective - housemates will be liked based on their personality and depth to most.
Nothing in the slightest bit attractive in Winston inside or out IMO. Chris & Christopher are hardly quasimodo's themselves!

Aaron was attractive and was hugely popular on here, Deana was gorgeous and hugely popular, Ashleigh too, Christopher (personally) is attractive and is popular on here, Rex was attractive and very popular on here etc....

Winston was just annoying and I didn't like him but it had nothing to do with looks. He wasn't even funny in the way that Steven had an Alan Partridge quality, he was just a budget Joey Essex but worse.

I've seen this point made before and I've always rejected it as a bit of lazy thinking.

It kind of suggests that all less attractive people have personalities because they need them to be successful, but of course there are plenty of less attractive people who are also short on personality. And there are plenty of beautiful people with great personalities - why didn't they sit back on their laurels?

But this view also fails to take into account that your personality starts to develop from the day you are born, when every baby is told that they are beautiful and cosseted and continues to develop throughout childhood when they are not aware of any exceptional beauty and their personality develops without awareness too. People don't wait until they are invited to parties for a chance to develop their personalities.

Oh yes, I am definitely suggesting that people are prejudiced against his accent - (it is a normal accent to me too) and notice I said speech patterns too, ie cutting out much of the repetition and pauses which are prevalent in Winston's speech.

But people (especially on here) are much more attracted to a well-spoken person than someone who punctuates their speech with 'like' and 'yeah'. So I firmly believe that Winston, with Chris's voice would be a popular choice on here, and Chris, with Winston's voice would be far less popular. Try imagining it, and it's hard to disagree.

It's exceptionally easy to disagree. I've never heard anything so ridiculous.

If Winston looked like Chris, he wouldn't have acted like Winston and certainly wouldn't have been on BB.

Yeah, who was that tiny, tiny young girl on celeb BB two seasons back I think it was, the model with big boobs married to that much older man. She was beautiful looking, but delightful and charming with it. Great personality.

I found both Chris and Christopher more attractive than Winston, I could never make my mind up whether he was acting a simpleton or he really is one, he seemed so sure he was going to win, which makes me think he was a few bricks short of a full load....
