First of all you have here a 68 yr old who has had the same PAYG phone for at least the last 12 yrs,so please no highly techno answers !
I want to upgrade to a more modern phone, one with a fairly decent camera, and that will also will allow me to post my pictures on facebook.
I don't want to surf the net, watch TV or films or find restraunts, cinema menus, or look up stuff on google or send texts( I can but it takes a long time).
Can anyone out there suggest a phone that'll suit my needs ?. Any help will be much appreciated.
Thank you
Mike

There are dozens of Android phones. I assume you don't want to spent a lot of money.

Personally, I'd go for a mid range Nokia Lumia. They run Windows Phone and are very easy to use. The Nokia's tends to have good cameras too.

My dad is in his 70s and gets on well with a Windows Phone, and takes lots of photos.

PS. Don't put your email address is posts - a very bad idea. I've asked the mods to remove it.

Sunny Day, go to your Original Post (the top one) and press the edit button if you can and edit the email address out of the post.

Its not a good idea to post an email address anywhere publicly accessible as automatic 'bots' can scan farm these email addresses and add them to mailing lists for spam and phising emails

Think that the suggestion of a Windows phone above is a good idea.

Mrs had one for a short time, she didnt get along with it but can certainly see the appeal of them. The way the tiles and menus are layed out are very clear, minimal colours etc. There is quite a range of Lumia's to be looked at (made by Nokia), ranging from small to large.

I would make sure you get one with a flash though

Here is what I would suggest doing. And it's really the same as the above but with more information added.

Go to a mobile phone store if you can and ask to play around with either a "Nokia Lumia 520" or "Nokia Lumia 630". Both phones are easy to use and under £100. Ask the assistant to show you how to resize tiles so you can have your most used things such as calls/texts at the top of the phone so it's easier for you to get to. Don't buy anything on the day and don't let the salesperson sign you up to any contract or whatever.

If you can't get to a store just type in these phone models into Youtube.com and you'll be able to watch a Video about them.

Now, you will probably have an old SIM card with your network that doesn't have internet access. If it does most likely you'll be charged a lot of money for using the internet on your phone. Go to your current network and ask them which pay as you go package is best for you if you're getting a smartphone. In fact If you post here what network you are on I can assist you with this as well.

The reason I say this is because smartphones use a lot of internet to download things like the weather or a sat nav map for example. So you may be charged a lot of money from your credit just for doing simple things like this on your old sim card tariff.

My parents have the 520 lumia, while it's a very good phone for the money the camera is not the greatest and it doesn't have a flash, so useless in any situation that doesn't have lots of light, also no front facing camera, ok you might not want that but it's handy to have.
But yeah it's ok but if you want a decent/better camera with flash I'd look at the slightly higher spec model lumias, not sure what model to suggest as I'm not clued up on lumias but I'm sure someone else will reply about this.
