It was a very entertaining episode of Corrie tonight, with the return of Jim McDonald which caught me off guard, because even though I'd read about his return, I had forgotten about it and not even thought that he could be the landlord. With Ken's return as well, this is quite a strong storyline at present, some other stories like the library etc have finally also not been about relationships as well., when you compare Corrie this summer to that of summer 2013 it seems a lot better, I was practically giving up on it during summer 2013 with the rather pathetically drawn out Lloyd/Paul racist comment story particularly.

It was great to see him, so it was. And yes, this is shaping up to be a VERY strong storyline. LOVING it.

They should get Jim back full time for Liz and get rid of her and Tony which isn't a good pairing

Great to see Big Jim so it is! Last night's double episodes were 100% better than the drivel served up last week. I am even finding Ken interesting! Kirkay was hilarious, the only thing that spoilt it was the grinning idiot turning up again snogging the old skank Lloyd just as he was eating his teah - yeuch - plus creepy husband stalker - who gives a toss!!???

They should have made a way for Tony to have been Tina's killer - then they could have had the character Rob (who is growing more and more likable with each episode) stay on for longer. As it is - we know that Rob will eventually be caught and will have to be written out and then we're stuck with deadwood like Tony and Lloyd for the foreseeable future.

It was great to see Jim back though ... so it was! And in the Big Hoose too!

Catch yerself on, they can't get Jim out of the Big Hoose, so they can't. He's guilty of armed robbery, so he is. Mind you, he could sort Tony out from inside, so he could.

I agree. Given that they have brought back Jim, it would have made a lot more sense if Tony was Tina's killer, rather than Rob. Whilst Peter is still in the frame for the crime, it would have made sense for Peter to have suspected that Tony was the culprit. We could have had Peter telling Jim of his suspicions and Jim appealing to Liz that her boyfriend is a killer. It would have been an ideal opportunity to involve the Grimshaws in the storyline, potentially with Eva and Todd slowly piecing together that Tony is the culprit.

Agreed, I would also like to see Jim back full time, behind the bar of The Rovers. His Elizabeth is ill-matched with Tony, and Stephen needs his dad, so he does.

A few too many "so it is's" in the script - but great to see Jim back.

There's no way it could have happened, but I'd have loved to see The Landlord turn out to be Al Murray

I actually think Tony has a lot of potential and is far from deadwood. The pairing with Liz is going nowhere though. It is a shame to lose Rob though, I agree. I don't even consider him to be a villain. He deserves an award for ridding us of Orangetina.

I too had heard Jim was returning but never clocked that Jim was the Landlord. Devastated that Peter is in prison and was so worried that The Landlord would turn out to be the stereotypical prison bully. Then Jim turned round. When he said Peter would have to pay though. Will the storyline take a dark turn? I hope not, don't know how much more Peter can take (or me!)

It's a much better summer than last year.
I was only interested in the Rob scams Carla story last summer

I know his son is in prison, wrongly accused of murder but did Ken even hear about his precious library burning down he did used to spend quite alot of time especially after he had an argument with Deirdre

Agree. They missed a trick. This story could've been so much better. The aftermath has been quite dull and not far reaching enough. Ken and Jim have brought the story back to life a bit but the minute Rob was revealed as the killer, I filed this one under 'missed opportunities.' The reveal might give us a good week of episodes but the Barlows will be a lot poorer without Rob and Peter.

Don't forget Killer Karl which climaxed in September, aftermath of David/Nick crash and Hayley dealing with her cancer diagnosis. Last summer was infinitely better despite the 'play the white man' caper which at least ridded us of Paul and Mandy.

Elizabeth needs to catch herself on, so she does. At first, I thought she was Lily Savage behind the bar last night, so I did. Same hair and clothes, so it was.
