What a load of nonsense matt, real nonsense.
Maybe this graph will help.

Look at the unemployment graph.
In 79 under Lab unemployment was about 1.5million and the tories put a poster out saying labour isint working.
By 1984 Thatcher not only had risen unemployment to 3.2m ( a rise of almost 2 million out of work ) but she also brought in incapacity benefit which meant anyone off sick for more than 6 weeks automatically went onto a disability benefit.
This was a way to fiddle unemployment figures as those on incapacity no longer would be counted as unemployed.
She also brought out 12 week training courses that never trained you or give you a job at the end,it was just cheap labour being paid £23.50 per week for 40 hours work.
This also brought down the real unemployment figure which at the time was speculated to be between 6-7 million out of work.
This is why you had bands like UB40 come about and they made a song called 1 in 10 which was about how Thatcherism made 1 in every 10 unemployed ( it was 1 in 5 in Northern Ireland).
She closed down factories and mines.
She wanted to take on the unions so she created the situation for the miners strike which cost thousands their jobs and destroyed communities.
Thatcher destroyed apprenticeships and replaced them with WEPS ( work experience programmes which never gave a skill to anyone,it was just cheap labour )
Those are the facts.
As much as Blair bugs me he did help unemployment come down but the record goes to Atlee who rarely had unemployment up beyond 2%.
If you study that graph you will see how when Thatcher left unemployment starts dropping
