So if Orlaith was in any series prior to 6 she would have made it to the final purely because she was Irish?

You know this how?

Again, there's no way to know him being Irish resulted in Caroline being evicted. Caroline's eviction wasn't a shock, and I don't think she would have survived over anyone bar Nick and possibly Mel.

Rubbish. So Ireland as a nation decided Anna would be their "chosen one" and ignored Tom as a result? She was favoured with the public in general, Irish or otherwise.

Thank god it's not. I'm from Manchester and won't be voting for him.

Me too, but I am only speaking of what I saw of his twitter following etc. There is a sizable portion of people from Ireland on here and I really cannot say he was supported by them either.

I'm not an Ash fan, but it's pretty clear he said that Ashleigh and Christopher ''have got, like, Ireland behind them.''

No 'that' or 'Island'.

Anyway, I hope Ashleigh wins.

Yes, there were a few on here who supported him at the time, he possibly had a hardcore base of like minded mates and a few supporters who were vociferous in spamming everywhere, but honestly, I havent spoken to a person from Ni who didnt think he was a knuckle dragging mouth-breather

And it's no less infuriating then, since it implies that, unlike English people, the Scots, the Irish, and the Welsh are incapable of making an informed decision based on talent, likability, or anything other than country of origin. So insulting.

lol thats one of the things that makes me laugh about ash. He looks so dirty and disheveled most of the time, slouching on couches and Smiling inanely even when nothing funny is going on. Often scowling as a relaxed expression.

Add his mumbling garbled sentences and you really do have someone that you'd expect to see hunched on a step out in the street homeless.

his mom has done him NO favours putting up with his sexist character and acting like a slave to him.....a grown man who has never worked a day in his life.

More housemates from the North East is what the show clearly needs.

So Ash managed to remember something he has heard on another reality TV show and use it when stringing a sentence along....how clever of him.

so you first said most in ROI cant see ch5 in the ROI... and you're still saying that?its been shown as untrue.
Now you're saying no ones watching.
Fans are.Thats also been proven to you.
Same as in the UK and thats what matters.
Some ROI viewers bother to vote too, those would actually be tiny alright.

*sigh* By time of BB6 there wasn't the same buzz in Ireland about there being someone Irish in the house. Even so, she did beat Kemal and Science in evictions, which surprised a lot of British BB fans, which tends to suggest there was a lot of home support for her.
With Ray, a lot of the votes he received were only from Ireland. There weren't too many votes cast for the other 3 finalists from Irish numbers. This was mentioned/covered by a couple of outlets back in 2003, maybe even on BBLB.
With the Caroline/Tom eviction battle there was a massive campaign in certain parts of Ireland to evict Caroline over Tom. It was revealed after BB1 finished that in that eviction, over half of Caroline's votes came from Irish numbers.
During BB1, Anna gained more coverage in the Irish papers/media simply because she had a more intriguing past. By the time we had reached the halfway point in BB1, many Irish media outlets were backing Anna to win, whilst still being favourable towards Tom.
All I'm doing is recounting my memories of those times.

I strongly disagree, especially as there wasn't any Irish people in the previous series. There was no buzz about her because she had the personality of a dishcloth.

It doesn't really suggest that at all.

Re the phone votes, I would still be inclined to call BS, even if it was reported by outlets. In particular with the Tom/Caroline eviction. It also still doesn't prove that the outcome would have been different had it they weren't Irish, and that people voting from Ireland, or anywhere else, were voting purely based on their nationality.

There were campaigns for Anna of course, not just in Ireland though, but all across the UK. Zoe Ball and Fatboy Slim, a popular "it couple" at the time were often photographed wearing Anna to win T-shirts.

I'm northern Irish and I don't want Christopher or Ashley to win. I liked mark until last week. And Kim had to leave.

Not fussed who wins now so long as it's not bitter ash.

Very well said.
