Mark and winston we're never actually THAT popular , they just seem the type

Has anyone else noticed this , I've never really seen any real mark or winston support anywhere and they seemed to hover around the middle/bottom end of most popularity polls , I think people just assumed they were popular because they were such typical big brother archetypes , the type of housemates who were ALWAYS popular , but I think the show and audience have changed and people have gotten wise to how shallow and uncomplicated these type of characters are, thus these "typical winner" types are no longer actually that popular. I have no doubt that 5 years ago winston would have won , and Ashleigh would have even been out weeks ago. The only exception I guess is Sam and I really still don't know why that happened.

Spot on.

I wasn't in the least bit surprised that either of them went.

I never saw any significant Mikey Hughes support in the forums / polls but he very nearly won BB9.

Mikey had the blind sympathy vote.

That sentence works in more ways than one.

Big brother had a lot more viewers back then , so the audience was more likely to vote out of sympathy or on looks

Yeah I agree, it was just the BOTS audience and the crowd who usually just go for the conventional Joey Essex male to favour who loved Winston.

I feel like it's such a shock because he has "winner" written all over him, despite the fact that he never did well in polls at all.

IMO the problem with Winston is that he is just not enough. He's nice but not that nice, he's funny but not that funny and so on. I don't mind him and have defended him about playing dumb but he's a bit meh really. There's no "remember when Winston did that..." moment.

Mark was actually a few weeks ago both forums and Twitter and Facebook but he ruined it for himself . Winston was mainly popular on Facebook and Twitter especially twitter .
