Why is this pretty young woman obsessing about another woman's looks ?

It looks spiteful and bitchy, especially since whatever else she is, Helen is not 'ugly'

You can be ugly in personality as well as in looks. Helen is definitely the former.

Yes ugly doesn't necessarily mean looks. Helen certainly is ugly on the inside.

Ashleigh giving it a final push for votes by having a go at Helen. Ashleigh often insults people with comments about their person rather than personality, just shows herself as ugly and jealous though if she has to continually demean another for their looks.

I don't think Ashleigh was insulting Helen's appearance. I think she was describing Helen's personality as "ugly." And I really can't say I disagree with Ashleigh.

I think the main point of the story was the irony of Helen saying that 'the show should be about being able to live in a group without being an a**e-hole' when Helen is, in fact, an arsehole, as pointed out by Ashleigh.
