Well.............

I joined the forum between BB2 and BB3 and it rocked, new threads, lots of banter, it was alive.

Even though BB4 was pretty dull, the forum survived and flourished.

Is the fact that the forum is now moribund proof that BB5 was so dull that it is impossible to sustain interest ?

Personally I have no interest at all in any of the BB5 housemates...........is this the same for everyone else ?

Can't even be bothered to engage in ritual 'yah boo your fave sucks' banter ?

Or should we pull our fingers out and get posting about anything to try and spark a bit of interest ?

Can anyone think of anything vaguely BB-related to talk about ?

Come on guys, save the forum !

Yeah real proof that BB5 was boring, it all makes sense now.....thats it then, official conclusive proof.

As i type this there are 13 threads on Page One which include a housemates name in the title..........not a single one of them is from BB5

Cameron, Kate, Briggitte, Jackie, Cameron, Briggitte, Mark Owen, Kenzie, Kenzie, Dean, Briggitte, Jade, Kate

Let's face it, no one is interested in the BB5 lot any more...............

The Dan news was in the NoTW on Sunday but it's not in the online version so I can't provide a link to the piece and we're not allowed to breach copyright which is why I didn't do a thread in the first place. It's posted at a couple of other forums though.

I think the point is that a lot of BB5 hms were picked for their "freakshow" potential and not because they were genuinely interesting people.
I still maintain that the producers are too "20-30" years old obsessed and the fact is that someone in their early 20's has not had a life to speak of. Unless you're interested in the best pint, shag etc that they've ever had that is!

Agree cheeks. Which is why my favourite housemate was/is Dan. 31 years old, lived a bit. Genuinely interesting and funny guy. IMO

Spot on, cheeks..........everything they had of interest about them, which wasn't much, had been said by the time the show finished

There's nothing for us to talk about now..........

We can't talk about what we don't know about. A lot of people are still interested in their favourite HMs even if the media aren't or they're delibearately keeping out of the papers and mags. And usually we only get to find out what they're up to via the media. Personally speaking I find it frustrating but hey-ho!

Maybe Marco or Shell might like to pop back and tell us what they're up to so we can talk about them eh?

BB5 was okay in the BB stakes. It didn't have your genuine "characters" to sustain the postBB period. N*dia has managed to blow all her cards early with the single, surgery, prostitution etc whereas the likes of Cameron will always be disliked and can make one comment and get the forum going again.

In short, I think the BB5 lot were not boring, but had no bouncebackability.

I have a feeling that one or two of them are actually biding their time and playing the waiting game.

I think celeb BB showed the potential for older hms and I don't see any reason for over half of the hms to be under 30. But we all know that the more immature hms are more likely to carry out the antics that the bosses are looking for

Antics? You mean sex and food-fights? I wonder if the programme makers have their demographics right in any case. It was noticeable that the final 3 in BB5 were the three oldest in there (bar Ahmed) so maybe those antics aren't what the viewers want anyway.

Even though I enjoyed BB5, I'm not interested in what any of the BB5 lot are doing now whereas with BB2, for instance, the characters were less two-dimensional (or weren't portrayed as cartoonishly maybe), so they had a more genuine and lasting appeal for me, I like having a few Elizabeths and Deans in the house as well as all the wacky zany one's. I would find myself checking out Elizabeth's website after the show and I bought Dean's book this year none of which I would have done for a BB5 hm.

Elizabeth has a website?

err...........................why?

You don't need to wait for about 50 years worth of life experiences to be able to engage in interesting conversation do you? All you need is to be aware of your surroundings and what's going on in the world. That's enough data for anyone of any age surely.

Apart from Kenzie, most of the CBB lot were 30+ and there wasn't that much interesting about them was there. Even Germaine Greer, after she'd given everyone her lectures on her specialist subjects, did a runner because she had nothing else to say.
Most other housemates from various BBs who were 30+, from what I can remember, were considered boring.

Dean, Sandy and that one legged bloke, to mention a few.

One-legged bloke?

I noticed at the time that people were interested in the "events"in the house which were mainly Big Brother inspired but no one gave a toss about the people in the BB5 house.
Nadia was pretty dull and uninteresting but was the most popular at the end because of her manipulated story and getting the sympathy vote. She was the clear favourite with weeks to go and no one else was ever going to be close.I mean the most unpopular housemate ever sneaking in second because the others were so DULL.
They remain DULL now but that's OK only two months to go.

You've never heard of Elizabeth's website! She did a few tours of Europe and wrote a journal and regularly posted photos along the way.

I don't think it's correct to say that nobody gave a toss about the housemates as people. A lot of people did and still do. I think it mostly depends on the housemate though. You're correct IMO that most BB5 HMs were rated on what they did rather than who they are as people. Viewers tended to like, for instance Nadia "she showered in her heels!" or Victor "so funny in the diary room". But there are exceptions to every rule aren't there?
