Personally I have no interest at all in any of the BB5 housemates...........is this the same for everyone else ?

Can't even be bothered to engage in ritual 'yah boo your fave sucks' banter ?

Or should we pull our fingers out and get posting about anything to try and spark a bit of interest ?

Can anyone think of anything vaguely BB-related to talk about ?

I quite agree Swing.....the last lot were dreadful. A lot of the problem lies squarely with the views who chose to put priority on loving/hating rather than the subtlties of the show....seemiingly prefering to take refuge in the black and white rather than enjoy the rainbow in the middle.... And it was a bandwagon jumping affair all the way through....with viewers being led by the odds rather than the facts....The whole dumbing down of the show to appeal to the HEAT crowd led to a dull time for all IMO....In short the show was crap....but because so many seem to believe they got the winner they want they'll insist it was the best ever when it clearly wasn't.....As such it may never improve....

Many of the BB5 HMs have fan sites of their own with hundreds of posts every week. If there are few posts here that's a comment on the state of DS:BB itself, not of BB5.

Not really.....And "hundreds of posts" isn't that much. The show was bad not this forum.

Correct. I spend far more time posting at a Dan forum than I ever do here.

EDIT: To be honest, I think a lot of the genuine fans of individual BB5 housemates are put off posting here by some of the ego-driven sneering that tends to infect this forum.

Maybe you get more of an unbiased viewpoint here as opposed to on a fan forum, nothing's written in stone, I've often changed my mind about various housemates or seen events in the house in a different light at least after reading some of the excellent arguments and counterarguments on here.

Well...if you feel the only way you can express your view is through abuse...

Indeed....there is plenty of opposing viewpoint expressed here, all in good spirit and reasonably presented.....this is an excellent site and it;s regular members input a joy to read...even the ones I sometimes disagree with.......

I'm not abusing anyone. Just stating what other people have said. Personally, I'm used to the rough and tumble of GBBF so it doesn't get to me but a lot of people don't enjoy having to be on the defensive all the time.

I think this place could have been far more interesting had BB5 housemates who took the time to post here not been driven away by posters on the attack.

Are you going to name anyone you consider to be an ego-driven sneerer then?

I was talking generally Mesostim. Why do you ask? Are your ears burning?

Why shouldn't I ask?....You've made a sweepingly generalised judgement of this site but you're saying you can't name anyone, you've just heard this site is "infested" by "ego-driven sneering" ("Just stating what other people have said")....It's not exactly proof of anything really is it....

Well maybe.........but there have always been fan sites which people here post on as well as posting here not instead of.

A lot of the threads here have tended to be about the nature of the show and any issues arising from it rather than 'fan' threads..........that just seems to be the way the forum developed.

That and lots of ego-driven sneering of course...........

By the way, Our Lizzie was fab !!

Personally, I take the view that whilst BB's running, enjoy it...loose yourself in what we all love to watch each summer, come on here & vent your anger or show your support BUT when it's finished, that's it, all over for another year. In short, enjoy it whilst it's on then return to normality. They've had their 15 minutes of fame .

It's like the end of the football season or Formula 1 or any other seasonal sporting event...it ends & you move on till the next time, BB's the same for me....& to be honest there's not much to hear about most of them now anyway.

When you've got people like Jade & Kate struggling to keep their names in the papers & magazines after all this time (and it seems succeeding), that's bad enough without giving encouragement to others, helping to extend their 15 minutes to 30 by talking about them months after BB's finished....once again, in short, enjoy it, live the moment & move on until the next BB comes along

Hi swing.

I love the BB5 housemates & I'm busy discussing them on various other BB/RTV sites. They are nearly all active & regularly in the news, with a few of them involved in new projects etc. Other BB & RTV-related sites are flourishing and full of news of all the UK HMs as well as related topics like BB6 developments, the German BB Forever and so on. A quick search-of & poach-from other sites could lead to at least a dozen new threads being started here, straight away, all containing fresh material.

IMO it's not BB5 that is responsible for the relative demise of the DS BB forum. The forum is at fault. It's become boring.

There are a number possible explanations.

- DS BB is seen as being very intolerant. I've lost count of the number of 'newbies' laughed & villified off the site ... Jade, Federico, Nadia, Michelle, fans come to mind. Add on those fans of Victor who just walked off at the amount of outright & subtle racist abuse posted about him.

In recent months we witnessed one member pick on Michelle fans one after another & in the most objectionable manner without a squeek of protest from most of us here. Why protest when you know he will pick on you next?

- The atmosphere here is very cliquey, which also puts people off. Let's face it, there's a crowd of regulars here who just visit to flirt & gossip with each other & are quite cold to new members. As soon as a new thread is started, it is taken off-topic by personal banter. They leap to the defence of each other, no matter what & often impose a sort-of mob rule.

I am not suggesting that we shouldn't be friendly but a line has to be drawn. Most of the stuff that I am referring to belongs to private messages & MSN, not on the site.

- DS BB, being a victim of its own success, attracts loads of trolls. Again, very off-putting. How tedious they are, trying to get a 'name' for themselves by being controversial or bulish or making outrageous claims.

- We have become lazy here. No one is bothering to go out & bring back new stuff, largely for the reasons posted above. Yet new material is the life-blood of any successful site. Without it, there's another reason for not clicking onto the DS BB forum.

In recent days there have been 2 major BB interviews, Dean & Stuart, not reported back here (are we even allowed to link to other sites at DS?), Federico has been mouthing off again, Dan's signed a record contract, Nadia is dating, Emma was nearly killed, Becki's been walking through the streets of London topless, Vanessa has been looking for a threesome, Jason & Victor have been strutting their stuff (and failing) at London's nightspots, Kate's planning another work-out video based on her experiences on ITV's celebrity wrestling show, Cameron is starring in a computer game, Brian has been signed-up for more TV work, Kenzie has been accused of theft, BB's first ever disabled contestant was ejected from her local BB in the first week, a BB Brazil contestant had a stroke live on air, Endemol has been accused of openly fixing BB Bulgaria etc etc. Yet not a word here.

To sum up, the problem is not with BB, but with the DS BB forum and the atmosphere here..

I agree it's this forum that's the problem. Too many cliques and 'professional' posters......

Very true. Michelle Bass has a fan-site* which is busier and better informed than DS BB.

* Though I don't like it.

You're not in a clique but most of the regulars are. Just take a look at some of the endlessly boring personal banter, gossip & flirting that takes place on many of the threads, particularly the BB3-related ones.

I joined during BB4. Once that was over, I couldn't help but feel the forum was defined by BB3.

But that is not a new thing, Eddy. That is precisely what put me off joining for quite some time when I lurked in the wake of BB3.

But every forum is cliquey...........it's a fact of forum life.

Even within DS, all the other forums are cliquey.

I joined another BBforum for BB5 'cos I was a bit fed up with this place, and that was cliquey as well.

There was quite a well-established clique here during CBB3 but they all seem to have disappeared, or been banned

Hi Eddy..........

I must admit that all that news about the BB5 HMs was news to me, but then I'm not interested in them, so i don't seek out news.

I expect much of what you say is true, but then it was just as true last year and the year before and probably the year before that.

All the time I have been here there has been trolls, cliques, intolerance, personal banter, rudeness, arguments, whatever ............

Yet the forum was buzzing then and isn't now.

So what's different this year ?

And what about my point above...........13 threads on Page One including a houemates name, not a single one of them about a BB5 HM.

Doesn't that prove my point that the forum isn't very interested in BB5 ?
