Should there be a prize for second and third
Blahblahblah...

I have always thought it is really rough living through the hell of the BB house for 10 weeks, risk having your life ruined only to come second and walk away with nothing.

It would also give the Ash Harrisons of the house something to play for

Yea there should. 20k and maybe 10 or 5

Lets be honest the 100K hasnt even been increased in 14 years and is worth only half what it once was. And BB wonder why they can't attract as many potentials as before..

That would be a lot fairer to both hm's and voters. Maybe the prize money could be shared accordingly. Good idea.

Didn't the runners up in the early series win a holiday or something?

I have a vague recollection of Anna Nolan getting a holiday.

No.

Winner Takes All - I've never been keen on anything that messes with the Prize Fund.

It is undoubtedly stating the obvious (and saying nothing that hasn't been said a million times), but the hugely unjust thing is that nomarks like Mark and Winston and Zoe and Steven (my personal 4 most disliked of the evictees!!!!) are given the breath of publicity and multi-chances to 'showcase their talents' (laugh-away) on BOTS.

The 2nd and 3rd placed (and other finalists) will be given a cursory 4 minutes each by Ch5 after being kept-in by the public and coming close to the win.

What would the 100k be now with inflation over the last 10 years?

It used to be 70k for some early years and Nadia only won 65k after they lost most of it in weekly tasks, it started at 100k but was rigged to go down and then back up to 65-70k.

It would be better if Second won 30k.

Someone asked this question, but I can't find the relevant thread (a bit tiddly!)

Craig Phillips' win of £100k in 2000 for BB1 was the equivalent of a £146,874 in 2013 using the Bank of England's ready reckoner. Perhaps there is a 2014 one out there to give the current equivalent, but still quite an eye-opener!

I think people overestimate that these days - the dwindling circulations of printed media means they don't have bucketloads of cash to splash anymore.

It was revealing on BOTS when the former housemate alluded to people having big competition between themselves for a gig opening your new local Aldi or so!
