Student House on the Square?
This would bring a bit of realism to EastEnders, a group of Students possibly Art students sharing a house on the Square.
In reality Queen Mary University is in Mile End and Shoreditch/Hoxton is not far away, The Square is still stuck in a 1950's time warp in some respects. |

An arts student house would be so realistic. Ravensbourne (an arts uni) is pretty close by in North Greenwich so that would work.
People moan and moan about EastEnders not representing cultural minorities properly, but how about the rest of the east end? It is full to the brim of creative workers and students. I wish they'd had Lauren go forward with her ambitions in graphics or whatever it was. |

If they did it, and cast students, I can imagine the constant 'YOUTH ARE TAKING OVER EE!' 'THIS IS NOT HOLLYOAKS!!!!' threads/posts.
It's bad enough when they focus on the teen characters for one week a year. |

Students don't have to be under 25, it could be an assortment of ages.

I don't think I'd trust any of the last few producers to come up with a group of students and them not to be hammy, unlikeable, stereotype characters. If anyone could pull it off it's probably DTC though
![]() The key will be balance. It won't work if there is a total overload of students thrust upon us and shoehorned right in. I'd like to see a flat of perhaps 3 people, with one being a young character we already know: Lauren if she went back to art college, or Whitney if she studied more on childcare, Johnny maybe. |

The last group of students they had were Fatboy, Mercy and Leon.
Do we really want a repeat of that? EastEnders should introduce a Hindu family. |

Students would have to be very well off to afford a house in Walford. Its real life equivalent, Bow, isn't a student area. I go to QM and if we don't live in Mile End we live in Leyton, Stratford, Hackney or the Docklands where houses are cheap and there are established student communities.
Also, if there were a student house in Walford TPTB would fill it with all different kinds of student - all of varying ages, studying various subjects, and with very different personalities and interests. Very unrealistic. We tend to stick with our own and live with friends similar to ourselves. Also there are no hipsters in Bow, just FYI. |

Young people aren't liked on EE.
Student aren't exactly well liked by the general public. I think overall it would be quite alienating. |

It's a nice idea though and since when did they worry about whether people actually have the income to afford to own or rent their properties in EE?!? Also, given we do have Jonny currently at University they could easily introduce characters as his friends, classmates so they come in gradually. I do agree that there are loads of young professionals, especially creative living in those sorts of area which is rarely reflected but then EE think that successful, educated people are toxic and everybody has to work on the Square so... |
