Do you maintain a well-stocked drinks cabinet? If so, what's the weirdest thing you have in there?

Do you have a garage (or wine cellar) with lots of different wines you've picked up over time? If so, how many bottles do you reckon you have? What's your 'prize piece'?

Or are you somebody who simply can't keep booze in the house without drinking it?

I've always got beer. When I can i like to do a shop at one of the specialist beer retailers and spend £100 or so and stock up. Always got a good selection of spirits as well.

I'm not a big drinker, I might buy a single sized bottle of cider a couple of times a month, or a bottle of Bailey's which will last me a month or two. We used to buy a box of assorted wines and that would last a few months, but most of the time we don't really have much booze in stock in the house. My husband buys beer on a regular basis but drinks it that night or the next.

I don't have a drinks cabinet. I have a wine rack, beer is kept in the fridge and a half finished bottle of 10yr old Bushmills single malt in the cupboard.

In the UK, we always had lager, wine, different bourbons, Bacardi, gin, amaretto, champagne, homemade raspberry gin & homemade blackcurrant brandy.

I have bottles of most major spirits types, and some wines.

Generally a pack of bud, or some ciders. Brought some hoegaardens back from france recently, so they are around now. 12 packs for about 4 quid.

i have a bar so that is fully stocked with spirits and liqueurs and ingredients for making cocktails. We also keep 3 or 4 different single malt whiskys on the go. There is red wine in the cabinet and white wine in the fridge. Also 6 or so bottles of OH's favourite ale in the fridge.

Having said that, we hardly ever drink - maybe two bottles of wine a week between us plus a measure of whiskey once a week. OH will have a beer maybe two or three nights a week.

Way too much and it never gets drunk. We are mainly beer and wine drinkers.

We have bottles of malt whisky from a variety of distilleries that we've visited and bottles that we couldn't resist picking up on holiday or in Duty Free shops - Metaxa, Canadian Club, Jack Daniels, Jamieson's, Absinthe, Ouzo, etc.

We always have enough bottles of real ale and wine stored to keep us going for a few weeks. We tend to stock up if there is a special offer on any of our favourites.

I've got a beer fridge which I like to keep stocked. We'll always have wine in but it tends to get drunk by my wife and used in cooking so we never really have numerous bottles hanging around.

Neither of us are big spirit drinkers but there's always a bottle of vodka in the freezer and we've bottles of other stuff that have either been gifts or are used for cooking (sherry, port, bourbon, rum etc).

Yes, that's usually me. I'm cutting out alcohol entirely (which is easier than I expected, to my pleasant surprise) but I've left the booze in the fridge and the cupboards to tell my willpower, which has proven to be up to the job for the last month or so. Fingers crossed!

On a related note, if there's anyone who (like me until recently) is in the habit of having a glass or three to wind down in the evening, it might be worth considering your position. As I discovered, you can achieve some pretty hefty liver damage without any visible symptoms (irreversibly so, if you're a bit unlucky), so if you've been pushing it a bit for a few years it's worth getting checked out. I'll shut up now because I know how annoying it is when people start delivering impromptu sermons, but anyone who recognises themselves in my description is very welcome to send me a PM.

Knowing the fabulous prices wines can achieve, my prize piece is insignificant and that's the La Croix Du Joug Hermitage Cave de Tain 1993. I have a few bottles left of wines various labels vintages 1996 and 1998, and a bottle of Fonseca Vintage Port 1966.

I don't think I have anything weird unless you count the Patrón XO Cafe coffee tequila, although some years ago I did have a bottle of mezcal with a worm in it. I bottled out of eating it though because it looked disgusting!

What about you OP?

I just seem to have loads of sherry, madeira and port, all offloaded from mum who gets given them as presents for Christmas.

I use them sometimes in cooking but am mostly teetotal.

Well if all that booze is a burden then I'll be a Good Samaritan and free you from them by taking them on.

My dad was more or less teetotal, just a glass or two of wine on Xmas day and sherry beforehand. After he died we found a couple of cases of vintage wine single estate South African white and red, as well as a dozen or so bottles of top quality gin and vodka that he had been given as gifts when he was freight manager for ICI Overseas Freight.

We had many enjoyable sessions drinking the wine which was absolutely delicious and a real eye opener in terms of taste, and although some of the gin and vodka had discoloured and evaporated we drank the whole lot with glee, and toasted him many times in various stages of inebriation.

You'd be most welcome to it. Looking in the cabinet just now there are 3 bottles of Bristol cream, a bottle of Baileys, a bottle of Amontillado, 2 bottles of Glenfiddich whiskey, and one bottle of port. All unopened.
