I think the Corrie and ED producers have only been there for just over a year so far, not sure when they're due to change, unless they just leave off their own accord?

Stuart Blackburn and Kate Oates have been in their positions a year and a half now.
Stuart Blackburn was at Emmerdale from January 2011-December 2012. So he basically did a full two year span at Emmerdale. He might stay longer at Corrie... who knows. I think a change is due for Emmerdale and Corrie. Both shows need fresh people at the helm.

I no longer watch Emmerdale as Kate Oates has changed it from a rural soap to a community of thieves, liars, bent police, nastiness and wall to wall sex. I hope she goes soon and that a new producer will give us back our Emmerdale.

There's been a real power struggle at Pobol Y Cwm, as I'm sure you know. The woman who makes the tea is angling to take over production duties, whilst the bloke wot does the cameras thinks he's the natural successor.

They should get rid of both of them and put Mo in charge.

I've always watched Emmerdale since I can remember. I am enjoying it at the moment but agree with you 100% about Kate Oates. I'm sure the next producer will be much better. We need someone who knows Emmerdale inside out someone like Bill Lyons who is Emmerdale's longest running writer. I love his episodes

I have to agree with most of what you say.....ED and Corrie are the only two soaps I have ever watched,,,and now it's mainly CS....I tune in to ED occasionally but very rarely watch the whole episode..

To be fair Emmerdale hasn't been "the rural soap" since at least the time the King's arrived in 2004. It's been a soap about criminals as much as the others for a long time.

Corrie is no longer about a backstreet in Manchester but the hub of serial killers and action movie disasters.

I suppose in Eastenders defence it was always about gangsters in London.

The sooner Berkwood goes the better. He may have a "Best Soap" award for Hollyoaks, but he is well and truly ruining the show!

I am hoping and praying that Stuart Blackburn will be quit Corrie soon. In the 16 months that he's been credited as the show's producer the quality has rapidly nosedived. I hate his deluded vision of what Corrie should be, I.e. endless affairs, relationship breakdowns, character personality transplants and silly contrived coincidences.

In other words, exactly like his predecessor's....

Corrie desperately needs a new producer and fresh ideas...it's current state is terrible!

Emmerdale, I mildly enjoy although I think that's down to Ross, the over emphasis on the Barton's is grating and the Macey's are just dull, they need a new Family at Home Farm.

Hollyoaks is badly overdue a new producer..BK and even the serial producers need replacing the show is like a dislodged puzzle of mess.

On average a producer stays 2-3 years...I can see EE actually buckling that trend though with DTC and perhaps allowing to stay longer if he wants.

Amazing how little memory people have about what the show was like before Stuart Blackburn took over, especially when it comes to Phil Collinson.

The noted writer John Sutherland wrote completely the opposite in The Times on Saturday.

Really?!

Collinson's reign wasn't without its faults by any means but he was responsible for some classic episodes- Jack's death, the tram crash, Roy and Hayley's wedding, Peter and Leanne's weddibg, Carla's rape, Becky's exit and revenge on Tracy & Frank's murder. Hayley's death aside, how many potentially classic moments has Blackburn really produced?
