Is anybody else having problems when trying to launch some games, where the inital game screen loads up and then it drops you back to the Dashboard and will not start.

I've been getting this a lot lately and I'm guessing its to do with the Feb update but the only solution is to do a hard reset in order to play the game.
Have noticed it happens more often since the last update. Actually used the report a problem for the first time.

Mine seems better now that the public release is out but from the Xbox forum people still have the issue.

March update

NEW EXPERIENCES
◾Screenshots: While playing a game, you can now take screenshots on your Xbox One console by simply double-tapping the Xbox button on your controller to capture a screenshot and pressing Y to save the screenshot. You can also say “Xbox Take a Screenshot” to take and save a screenshot. ◾Currently supported: Setting screenshots as backgrounds. Go to Settings > My Xbox > My Background, then select Screenshot.
◾NOTE: Functionality is limited in this initial March update. More functionality will be added in coming preview updates. See the March update preview post for details.

◾Suggested friends: Added a Suggested Friend area to the Friends app which will help you find and add friends.
◾Sharing your name: There are two new options to share your real name: ◾With all of your friends
◾With everyone in the Xbox Live community

◾Adjustable tile transparency: There is now a setting to enable you to vary the level of transparency for your background images. Go to Settings > My Xbox >Tile transparency. The options are: ◾Solid
◾Mostly Solid
◾Partly Transparent
◾Mostly Transparent

◾Voice search data privacy and safety setting: Added a new setting for sharing voice search data to create an option for users to allow collection and analysis of voice data when they use Xbox – Bing to search. Go to Settings > Privacy & online safety > Share voice search data to change the setting.
◾Xbox One Digital TV Tuner in Australia: Xbox One owners in Australia with an Xbox Digital TV Tuner can now use it with this release.

KNOWN ISSUES
◾Some users may not see any suggested friends. The team is aware and working on a fix.
◾No sharing ability with screenshots. In this initial update, screenshot sharing functionality is not available. More sharing options will be introduced in subsequent March preview updates.

..I've only just recently bought an X1 so have only just learnt to double tap the guide button to snap.

If 'double tap' on the guide button is now being changed to taking a screenshot - will there be a shortcut to snapping (apart from going to the Home screen and selecting the 'snap' tile)?!

Double-tab-Xbox will still bring up the Snap Centre. What's changing is that it will now have "Press Y to save a screenshot" in addition to "Press X to record that" and the snap-related D-pad options.

EDIT:

Just checked MajorNelson's Twitter feed and the video he posted.

As I said above, the Snap Centre is still there as before, and just has a new option to save the screenshot.

The screenshot itself is taken when you double-tap-Xbox.

You can then press Y to save it, or just use the other Snap Centre functions as usual.

Screenshots are managed with an updated Upload app.

Screenshots can initially be used a backgrounds, but later preview builds will add the ability to share them to XBL and Twitter.

I want to share to Facebook, very surprised there is no option considering the popularity of Facebook.

I've got a message welcoming me to the preview program and I didn't even know I'd been invited. Is it worth joining in?

If you don't mind getting the chance to try the latest features before most other people and sometimes getting the chance to play beta versions of games and can also accept sometimes getting a few bugs then I would say yes.

Anybody else having an issue with tile images loading? It's fine on the main screen, but Pins and the store just have lots of blank boxes.

I've gone ahead with it, I love the screenshot feature.

Not had that. But my pins have been rearranged and my tile transparency has gone back to solid for some reason.

....something I don't quite understand?

I'm not on the preview program but from what I have seen, doesn't the next update allow us to change the tile transparency?

My current X1 dashboard already has transparent tiles - why then does the next update give us this 'transparency' feature!?!?

The last update added tile transparency. Not everyone likes it so they added a feature which is on the March beta that allows you to select different transparency.

Tile transparency – We continue to listen to your feedback and are adding a setting to enable you to vary the level of transparency for your background images. Go to Settings -> My Xbox -> Tile transparency.

As Stiggles said.

But my issue was that I had it set to Very Transparent then when I loaded up last night the tiles were back to solid without me altering it.

Just switched on my xbox to find that it would not load and I had to do a hard reset on the console, first one in a while. It came back on and I had an update, the joys of being in the preview program. Here is what is in the latest update -

NEW EXPERIENCES
◾Sharing Screenshots to OneDrive. You can now share screenshots direct to OneDrive from the Share menu in the Upload app.
◾Enhanced Icons in the Party chat app. We’ve added new icons to the Party Chat app enhance the experience. Quests now up for you to try these icons!

FIXES
◾Apps and games not launching upon waking a console from standby (Instant-on mode). A change is in this update that addresses an issue reported by users where apps and games would not launch when waking from standby (when in Instant-on mode).
◾Display Resolution Reset. A fix for an issue reported by a small amount of users where consoles reset to a low display resolution (640 x 480) waking from standby.

I've opted out the preview program because (for some strange reason) every night when I press the xbox button on my joypad / remote it's not waking up the console! ... I've gotta press the power button on the console twice to restart the bloody thing!

Happens to me sometimes.
I just do a hard reboot and everything is fine after.
Well, until the next time it happens.

Just been on the xbox forum and there's numerous posters complaining about exactly the same syntums! ... apparently after every update the X1 needs to be properly restarted especially if you've got games or apps in suspend mode!

(Can't be arsed with that!!!)
