The Xbox preview program and Windows Insider are to merge later on this year after the W10 anniversary update.

"...but it certainly sounds like the Xbox One will be a true Windows 10 PC device after the big update."

Erm, eh? No it doesn't.

I saw that the Preview Dashboard had an update yesterday on the announcement it said that there was a build coming last night.

I just wish they would modify Cortana so that you could just say Xbox on, and Xbox pause which where the 2 commands I used. Having to say Hey Cortana Xbox pause is just a pain when watching something when the controller has gone to sleep, plus she is really slow to understand what I said.

Loving the new preview build. Haven't tried Cortana yet...

Anyone else notice their boxes now make the turn on/turn off noise even without using the button on the box itself? Mine didn't do that before, could do with turning it off...

DNS is not resolving xbox server names.

Anyone had this before? Away to check the xbox preview forums.

The steady stream of improvements have improved the Xbox One dash immeasurably since first release.

It's taken a while, but it's finally at a stage where I can say I actually like it.

In some ways, it might even have the edge over PS4's OS now.

I guess you have only just gotten the update. You should have a play with Cortana there are quite a few fun thing you can try asking her as per below.

I have not gone hunting for the option but I don't think you can disable the sound.

The MSN Weather app has been made available for preview testers to try all you need to do is search "weather" in the store on the console.

Why won't MSN weather install on my system, no error message just pops up 'installation stopped' ?

I have just seen this tweet from Mike Ybarra and it may be the issue you are experiencing.

Anyone else having issues with the Xbox app on PC dropping streaming from the Xbox almost constantly since the last updates? Or is it just DC Universe online?

They've now added the option to turn the start-up chime off completely or have it set like previously where it only chimes if the actual power button on the console is used. Happy days

(It's in the power settings...)

...I've always turned my X1 on by holding down the guide button on the controller - the console would always just turn on silently.

However, since the recent update, when I now press and hold the guide button on the controller, the console plays a short 2 or 3 note chime sound when it turns on?!?! It does the same thing when I turn the console off (by holding down the guide button and selecting, 'Turn Console Off', from the resulting options screen).

I am guessing this is all new then?!

Also noticed options for setting up Cortana without Kinect (boy - does ANYONE actually have an X1 Kinect?!!!!! ), by using the headset - what can she do, other than open games/apps?

EDIT - oops, just seen post #587 above by gds with various commands to try on Cortana!!! Definitely must give that a go!

Yep, this is new (see post #581) but they've finally added the option to turn it off completely or turn it back to how it used to operate (only makes the noise when you use the power button, doesn't make a noise when using the guide button on controller)
