Not really the same though, as Clare was a character in her own right, she left as a teenager. I'm talking more about young kids. Clare's return was criticised for reinventing the character, with a character that left as a small child the character is yet to be truly invented so couldn't face the same backlash.

There doesn't need to be some big hoo-haa about it, after all it's hardly a big return but rather giving a new character a familiar name and family ties.

Alternatively, we could have Sharmilla Kapoor join the group of young adults, being a friend of Johnny's at university. Arjun Kapoor maybe a new friend for Liam. I love this idea and it's never been done before to my knowledge, at least not in the British soaps.”

Too true, they are absolutely two of my favourites.

Yes, but not for the reasons you mentioned. Characters should be introduced because they're worthwhile, not because the BBC want to tick boxes. This is hardly the first thread you've made on the supposed 'lack of diversity' in the show either.

Little Ali would be just about to turn 26 at the time of the anniversary, not sure how old mehmet's children would be but Haluk Belinger and Ishia Bennison are still acting so would be good to see them again too, maybe as owners of the old Argee Bahgee and turn it into a Turkish restaurant (I always prefered Mehmet and Guizin to Ali and Sue)

Other original/older characters I'd like to see return, for guest or extended periods, would be Annie Smith (Mary's daughter, as Linda Davidson is no longer acting. Not sure why she'd come back though.), Carmel Roberts (she could still be a Health Visitor and her daughter Aisha (played by her real daughter, Aisha) could return as well), Dr. Legg (could return to see Dot), Lofty (Dr Legg could drag him along maybe), Martin and Wilmott-Brown (could maybe unknowingly get involved with Sharon and The Albert).

I slightly eat my words because I was in the East End today and 90% of the people I saw weren't white

Having said that it wasn't in an old fashioned square like in EE, so I'm wondering if in the more old fashioned/traditional East End areas like Albert Square there's less diversity?
