EE - Ian Beale's 17 children
RoryJohn
11-08-2014
While Ian Beale has raised 4 kids on screen, Adam Woodyatt has starred opposite 17.

I tracked down the Beale blasts from the past on social media and thought some of you might be interested.

Thomas law and Melissa were the best! They worked so well together and for young actors were brilliant! They'd be fantastic as adults!

Ben hardy and hetti were/are awful!

Have to agree. I read that Thomas Law was asked to return as Peter, but turned it down as he felt it was the wrong time in his career. Maybe if Hardy decides to move on they'll offer it to him again, rather than lose Peter as well or recast again.

Thanks for that, very interesting reading. I forgot how much Steven got up to in just 9 months!!

I was never a fan of Thomas Law, it was good casting though, looks wise, since he and Joseph Shade look a lot alike in the current photos. (Edit: Maybe not a lot, now I've looked again, but to do look a bit alike. )

James Martin was an odd choice to have in between though. Rory Stroud though looks more like him than he does to the previous Bobby.

I wonder what nubobby will be like.

If you include the Cindy's (and why not, 'cos you've included the Steven's) he's up to an even 20!

Oh you're right - though he didn't have much to do with the previous CIndys - should I stick them on the list?

Stephen was raised by Ian from a young age, and was Ians step son. Cindy is nothing to him.

I love Ben and Tom, both work fine as Peter IMO

I was never keen on Melissa, she brought a distasteful version of Lucy

I much prefer Hetti, Melissa wouldn't have been able to portray the vulnerability and growth in Lucy IMO

Thank you RichiRoo88 - are there other soap families I should do?

(BTW I've tried tracking down the original Nick Tilsley from Corrie but it's seemingly impossible).

I heard the original Nick works or owns a garden center in Canada, but that might be BS.

On soap families, do you just do the English soaps? Because I'd LOVE to see someone do the Brennan and Doyle families in Fair City.

Suffield's Lucy is the only successful recast of one of Ian's kids in my opinion. Suffield was Lucy. Everything that character was is because of Suffield. The role should have stayed with Suffield. The Peters are interchangeable. Hardy showed promise early on but both his acting and the writing for him have taken a nosedive. I'm sure he won't be the last actor to play Peter.

Hopefully the next Bobby will have an appropriate accent. Nothing wrong with the kid's accent in real life but since we know the character grew up in East London and not Buckingham Palace it was more than a bit jarring. The same criticism can be levelled at Hardy and Bywater.

Do the Barlows! There have been loads of Peters, Susans, Tracys, Daniels, and you could extend to grandson Adam.

For a minute there I thought Ian had been really busy and we would have a secret faverr story 14 times over!

Joseph Shade looks good! (As well as Tom Law and Ben Hardy).

They should have a storyline in which it is discovered that the real Peter Beale was kidnapped by aliens in Devon and replaced by an impostor. They could have all three (Hardy, Law & Shade) claiming to be the real one and trying to expose the others as impostors or fakes.
