'Who stays... Who goes... Its down to you????'

Er...not really.

I know this is Comic Relief - raising money for Africa - but... I think this is ridiculous.

It ISNT down to us. Imagine like - 1 million voted for Kym, 900,000 voted Adrian, 800,000 voted Edith, 500,000 voted Reggie - we aren't exactly keeping them in are we.

One person goes in - aka, Kym - whereas the others are put in the judges and contestants hands - by which it could be Adrian, Edith or Reggie, whereas it would be THEM deciding - 'Who stays, who goes'

I think it'd be much much better if our votes actually counted. Hey, its great - but this is the only grudge I have against it.

It's all designed so you vote even more for the person you want to get through.

Given how many times Reggie has been saved by the students, it most definitely isn't 'down to us'!

Yes, they could have dropped the judge and student votes.

As it is, many who phoned will feel their votes were wasted (apart from the charity contribution, of course!).

That's a problem that's there to an extent all along, but it gets much worse as fewer are saved.

Except the public left alone often would produce unwatchable TV. They would do here what they do on Big Brother or Pop Idol. Dump Gina and Reggie early, bin Ade when his voice goes....end up with celebs they know or like and if you are lucky a singer. They eliminate anyone odd or from a minority genre and unfortunately seem to produce an increasingly white line-up. Nominations in BB and judges and student votes save us from houses that run out of steam after 2 weeks and finalists that may not meet the needs of the show for comedy or singing.

Luckily though, in the case of this show, every call made counts towards the betterment of the lives of people less fortunate than ourselves, so it's much less a wasted vote than in some other shows

A good point well made. It's all too easy for us the viewers to get caught up in the entertainment aspect or the competition aspect of CFA. In some cases at least, the contestants have perhaps been better at keeping the true meaning of the programme in mind.
