Software update for Pure DMX50
I've just bought a Pure DMX50 DAB radio mini hi-fi on Ebay and it comes with version 1 of the software. I want to update the software to version 2.3, which is available on the Pure website, so I can use the Electronic Programme Guide to record radio programmes to the SD card by timer.
The problem is that the software needs 32 bit Windows and my computer is 64 bit. I don't know anyone with 32 bit Windows whose computer I could use and I'm wondering if there is any way round this? Thanks |

if it was the other way round you might have a problem. But running a 32bit program under a 64bit version of Windows should be perfectly possible. In fact it is highly likely that you are running several 32bit programs already without being aware of the fact.
![]() Of course that was some years ago, they're harder to find now. Also, the Pure website says it won't work on 64 bit |

Well just out of idle curiosity I downloaded the software and installed it on my laptop running Win 7 64bit. Got a warning message asking if I wanted to install the driver and said OK to that and the program appears to run. Though did have a period looking at the spinning blue circle while it thought about things.
Though not having a DMX-50 to play with I can't say if it actually would update the tuner. But may be worth giving it a go. |

I've just given it a try on my 64 bit Windows 7 computer but it refuses to install.

As I said when I ran the downloaded file it threw up an error message asking if I really wanted to install some driver or other. I said yes to that and then the installer kicked into life (ish) It had a full screen background window and a smaller window that was the actual installer. This smaller window did say "Not responding" in the caption bar for a couple of minutes but then it came back to life and invited me to connect my DMX-50 via USB. Obviously at that point I had to retire gracefully so I can't say if it would actually have performed the upgrade. |

It went through the process of asking me to connect and looking like it might work but in the end it did not.
I've since discovered we have some 32 bit Windows machines at work so I will have to take it in there to do it. |
