just got a iphone 5C (yes come from andriod)

I synced my contacts in gmail, and then got them on my iphone. however there is one contact, that we shall call BOB, that comes up in the whatsapp notifications at the top as new message from 'indeed'

even tho their name is in the phone - everyone elses name comes up fine. Also when i go in to the actual whatsapp chat BOB's name is displayed just fine at the top

Ive reinstalled whatsapp

deleted the contact from gmail and reinput it to my phone so its in the phone memory (its the only one rest all gmail)

but still its saying new message from indeed not BOB

im totally confused

I believe this is an issue with them, not you.

On Android, WhatsApp uses the contact name for notifications. However, it works slightly differently on iOS. You specify a name for notifications within the app, in Settings > Profile (I think). This is just for notifications, and conversations will display as per your contacts. I'm not really sure why this is. So, I would think Bob has, for some reason, put the word 'indeed' in the box where his notification name should live.

thing is i have other such as 'xxx work' and they come up as 'xxx work' in the notifications too
