The people taking this too seriously are...

..the Judges.

Fancy voting some average MOR singer ahead of an entertainer.

They seem to be under the impression that this show really is going to produce a chart star.

Funny how the only one on the panel with any musical ability is able to see the truth. Kim and Edith are mediocre and always will be.

i disagree that edith and kim are mediocre, i think theyve both done really well, BUT i couldnt agree more about the judges taking things way too seriously and forgetting what this particular version of fame academy is all about

In terms of the show they may not be mediocre but in terms of the real music world they are. They'd be eaten alive. That's why it's so ridiculous of someone like Richard to be taking it so seriously.

But isn't Kim about to be offered a million pound record deal? (as reported by Claudia)

To be honest I think I prefer it with the judges taking it TOO seriously - if they sucked up to the lovely celebs doing their bit for Comic Relief and said everything was wonderful I'd have lost interest. As it is the honest opinions and treating it pretty much as a "normal" Fame Academy are part of the reason I am still watching.

I've been quite surprised that the tensions have been much stronger than they were with a "normal" FA.

Bigger egos in the mix, I expect Moog,... public figures not hopeful nobodies

I doubt that, I think they are just judging the students on their singing & performance rather than their popularity, which is what they are there to do.

But famous people often get record deals on the back of being famous, rather than ability. Kim does have a decent technical voice, and could probably do well in Chicago etc. off the back of Eastenders. She'll probably sell a bucketload of records in the next few months (as did Robson and Jerome, as did lots of Neighbours performers inthe late 80s, and so on) then we'll not hear from her again.
But if she'd just walked into an audition off the street as a 'nobody' no-one would give her a recording contract.
