Hello,

I have a samsung p2770hd TV. It has only one HDMI input so I've purchased a HDMI to DVI adaptor for my BTVision input. The TV will not pickup on it's signal.

I've tried:
editing the DVI source
swopping AV boxes over
the BTVision Box is recognised when it's starting up but then goes to "no signal"

Any suggestions please?

Cheers, Guy.

First off.

Does the BT Vision box work HDMI to HDMI? If yes then the BT box is OK.

Does anything you have (other than a PC) work on the DVI input, eg a DVD/Blu-Ray player, Sky box etc? If no then the TV is the problem.

Reading the manual it seems this "TV" is really a PC monitor with a tuner built in. And it also appears the DVI input is biassed more towards use with a PC rather than anything else. From the table of input signals in the latter pages of the manual it looks like the only inputs that will accept a 50Hz signal (as would be output by the BT Vision box) are the HDMI and Component inputs. It looks like the DVI only likes 60 or 75Hz signals which is OK for a PC graphics card but no good for something like your BT Vision box.

If it is the case that the DVI input doesn't like 50Hz inputs then your only options are either to use the Component inputs for one device (assuming said device has Component outputs) or a HDMI switch.

Yes, when I read the manual I got the impression it was more a monitor than TV, I didn't get that idea when Currys sold it to me. I'll try your ideas, cheers.
