Let's just hope he isn't as vile and loathsome as Brenda.

Couldn't stand him or any of his storylines and was glad he finally left. Should've had a painful and gory death so we could all see him get his comeuppance.

I don't think he's lost it. I think it's a big F U to all the Brendan fans and basically says: That time is over.

Oh, I think I already got that message loud and clear from Kirkwood

It's obviously meant as an insult, and not a tribute, to one of the best characters the show has ever had (THE best, in my opinion) and to belittle his legacy, and his relationship with Ste.

Way to p*ss off whatever Brendan fans are still watching your shitty show, BK. Well done. Never mind, just fill the screen with more shirtless brain-dead morons and ridiculous stunts, and you can hang on to those viewers who don't care about little things like decent plots, good writing, character continuity etc. It's all good, huh?

I'm wary of this thing too... but I'd suggest to wait and see how it pans out before freaking out too much. It may not be as insulting as we fear!

I think the idea actually fits. What it does is demonstrate in no uncertain terms to JP, Ste and the viewer that Brendan is still in his head and he hasn't forgotten him. This is probably why JP and Ste break up. Ste hasn't moved on.

You're very trusting, Francy. That's a good thing

But Brian Kirkwood ....

...ruins everything, I know.

I'm keeping a wait-and-see approach, but I'm expecting the worst, just to be prepared!!

I don't think BK wants to show Ste being hung up on Brendan, or to break up his new pairing. Ste will probably end up saying "Brendan who???" and telling JP he's the love of his life, and then JP will propose and we'll have another gay wedding with lots of blue delphiniums and another horrific tragedy (ie, they actually get married)

LOL It could actually happen, since every couple who have been together for 2 minutes have the urge to get engaged on this stupid show.

That sounds about right. Sinead (ugh!) will take over as wedding planner, since Cheryl will be too busy living in her castle in Ireland with her millionaire chappie, singing along to B*Witched without a care in the world.

They're not trying to recreate Brendan, just stir up old feelings in Ste. All it would take is some similar features or personality traits for Ste to remember his ex, hence the moustache.

People get themselves worked up over nothing sometimes.

I don't believe that. Kirkwood would have Scanlan back tomorrow if he said he was up for it.

Thank you.

I'm willing to wait and see what happens. Because I'm willing to bet it will only be something more like a passing reference than anything truly insulting, and like you say, it's only to stir up feelings for Ste and serve as a reminder.

But the way people are acting, it's like "HOW DARE ANOTHER MAN BE TALL AND HAVE DARK HAIR AND PROMINENT MOUSTACHEY FACIAL HAIR!!1!1!" Lol.

And it's better than watching them continue to pretend JP's the only other gay man out there that's somehow appropriate Ste be with.

If they try and throw Stendan completely under the bus, I'll be the first one to riot, but I doubt that's the intention. In no way am I getting the impression that Ste's supposed to turn around and declare to JP that he means more to him than Brendan ever did. The show knows nothing like that would ever work and would only make them look like the biggest fools.
