McFly are great, and raising bucketloads for comic relief, so they're obviously doing something right.

McFly giving a Masterclass. That made me laugh. What have they had? A few hits?
They sound like Beatles wannabes to me.

[claim to fame]I know someone who sold them guitars before they got famous. Apparently they're a nice bunch of lads[/claim to fame]

That still doesn't stop me disliking their music

They could give a masterclass in making lots of money on very little talent?

(Yeah, I know it's all for charidee, but they still do not sound good!)

During "You've got a Friend" the McFly boys were more out of tune than Reggie on a bad day!

well far better trying to "sound like" the Beatles than the tuneless no melody, no sing-a-long-ablity rubbish that is in the charts today.

We need a band with simple sing-a-long tunes and catch lyrics whoever there influence is/was

The Beatles were a great influence on many many bands and the artists (including Mcfly) freely admit that.

Listen to there hit "obviously" and I'm sure you'll be whistling it all day. The same can't be said of about 80% of stuff on Top Of The Pops as they have no structure, it is hard to tell what is the verse bit and want ain't and then it just ends.

Carrie said that they can sing well and worked out the harmonies for the students. They also play the guitars reasonably well in my opinion for what it's worth! (Very little, I hear you cry!)

However, I didn't think much of "You've Got a Friend". It was better in rehearsal. The other song which they sang on their own (All About You) was much better.

“it is hard to tell what is the verse bit and want ain't and then it just ends.”

What does this mean?

Well, when you've heard "You've Got A Friend" being sung by James Taylor, nothing will ever quite match up to it.

I can't help but agree with you on that, it's one of the 'don't touch this' songs.
Steve.

Actually I'd extend that to say that if James Taylor ever sang anything, keep away!

I agree. If Carol King wrote it and James Taylor sang it, you wont better it so why bother?

I thought having McFly on there was a strange choice as it was after 9.30 and surely all their fans are in bed I know they are doing the Comic Relief record but I really could have done without that performance last night. Lemar the other night was fantastic though

McFly have got the worst haircuts I have seen of popstars for a very long time! Sang surprisingly well though, although the live performance gave the contestants very little to do.

McFly are fab - not since my days as a Duranie have I liked a pop group so much. Fortunately my six year old likes them too, so I have a ready made excuse to get their album.

it's one of the perks of parenthood, along with embarrassing them at the school disco when they're 14..... makes up for the sleepless nights that they put you through when they were babies!

I think McFly are the victims of some real musical snobbery sometimes. I bet "credible" artists would kill to be able to write some of the catchy tracks that the McFly guys are able to.
