Denise is told that Patrick is now well enough to return home, but Ian tries to stay one step ahead by desperately hatching a plan. He tells Denise that he has spoken to Kim and Anthony, who both think that Patrick would be better off in a care home.

Jesus Christ! What are they doing! Patricks stroke is only three weeks old. Literally no time to recover from a stroke. Its takes up to two months. It looks like Patrick had a severe stroke which takes months to recover from. There is no way any one can recover from injuries in that time

His treatment must be followed up with speech therapy. Not enough time given to Patrick

Of all their retcons this upsets me the most. The man can barely hold a pen. DTC's rush jobs again.

Nothing in that quote suggests he's recovered, just that he can come out of the hospital to be cared for at home. He'll still have a long way to go and need a lot of help, including as you say speech therapy. We've already been told it'll be a long recovery for him, they wouldn't say that only to rush it in three weeks. It's seems like you're overreacting, let's actually wait and see what happens in the actual episodes before bringing out the s.

Its not like he will be bungee jumping, handgliding and running a marathon. He still needs care and looking after. I am not an expert on strokes so I dont know how severe payricks stroke is or how long the recovery time is however the production team have consulted experts who do know what they are talking about.

This does happen in the real world, it's called bed space in the NHS.

I was carer in the community for many years, you would be shocked at what states people would be sent home in, specially from the stroke unit. Care would be put in place though, from care workers, community nursing teams, and community therapy (which includes physical & speech). It's cheaper to send people into the community than to a specialist care home.

Also please remember that every stroke victim has different side effects, reactions, and are left with different problems post-stroke. Some people recover quicker than others. Each case is completely different. It also depends on the how their home is, and family support that they have to go home to.

I'm looking forward to how this story pans out though.

They're really going out their way to show that despite a tragedy, Ian really, truly is a pathetic, miserable, awful excuse for a human being. Depriving a man recovering from a stroke of his home/family to save his own disgusting skin is just like Ian.

Eh? So now they're 'retconning' a storyline that is only 3 weeks old and is actually still ongoing?? Oh how I miss the time when people actually knew what this word meant and didn't just bandy it around to decry any development they're not happy with.

Not within three weeks. It took my brother two months with memory and speech therapy. They would be particularly unsure about him with care for at home.

Overreacting? He's stroke is severe. It nearly cost him his life. There is no way he'd do that within three weeks

Personally I think it fits with the story. He'll be up and singing within three weeks. Thats DTC for you

But this is dangerous. A stroke is just a duff duff.

If it does end up being rushed, DTC's rush jobs are still a lot better than BK's rush jobs.

Just because your brother had a stroke it does not mean you are an expert and it does not mean patrick requires the same level of treatment as your brother. Patients can recover differently and there are different types of strokes

And why should I listen to you eh Scrabbler? Since when did you become the expert?

I spend time in hospital. I read up on the different kinds of stroke, I spoke with the doctors, spoke with therapists etc.

If you are going to do a stroke story do it properly - not half arsed. Three weeks is too short a time

A retcon is changing something from the past to suit a current storyline what you have described is a lack of research

Thanks for this, I did consider mentioning bed space but wasn't informed enough to do so. This pretty much confirmed what I thought, and it'll be interesting to see how they handle Patrick's recovery as I highly doubt it'll be as rushed as the OP is making it sound.

I am not even pretending to be sn expert. Reading stuff online is no substitute for actually studying the subject like the doctors and advisors tptb have consulted for this storyline would have done. As both of my nans had strokes and passed away in the past two years its not something I take lightly.

The strange thing is that the B&B has a downstairs room with ensuite, it was mentioned before, so it would make more sense for Denise to move in with Patrick so he didn't have to struggle with the stairs

Surely if he is well enough to return home he would have told Denise about Ian already

No? He's well enough to leave hospital, he hasn't recovered? I do agree a little about dtc he's a fantastic producer but he either rushes storylines, which is what he's gonna do with sharon I think, or he makes them go on for ages and he drops them to focus on filler storylines! It does need more consistency, but on the whole he is doing a great job, and the storylines are interesting!

Nothing in that synopsis suggests Patrick is anywhere near recovered. Just that he's now stable enough to recover/receive treatment from home.

Calm down, sit down and have a kitkat.

I think that was uncalled for, there's really no need to be so rude. In that sense, why should anybody listen to you? You have your experience, it doesn't mean everyone else's would be the same. You're NOT the only one on the forum who has had a person close to them suffer a stroke. We're all different.

How about you listen to the people who have worked in these situations instead of shouting out about how much you know best, eh?

The timing scale is nothing new. Remember when Jack Branning was shot in the head? He was up and about skipping in the square like nothing happened in about 6 weeks!
