Walford Towers bigger than ever!
LiamBerryTea ~

Tonight's episode saw Walford Towers..
bigger and in fuller view than I've seen before
it's as if closer and slightly different position.
Have they perhaps moved to the temporary set?

I don't think the temp set has been built yet, plus if the plans for the temp set are accurate Walford Towers will 'move' from appearing behind 'deals on Wheels' to appearing behind the playground between the Surgery and The Vic.

I thought it was strange too. it wasn't moved far if at all.
just seemed massively closer and in much more focus.
I guess it could be a façade?
but I too didn't think the temp set was ready

Lmao. They've not even started building it yet.

Having looked at the scene again It was a low shot from the gardens (Deals on Wheels wasn't visible) so am thinking that it may just be a matter of perspective (and maybe depth of field). I know when I'm travelling up the M1 Emley Moor (TV Mast) often appears to change size considerably (getting smaller as I get nearer it and more buildings are visible around it.

Walford Towers has not been used in years.

Ian lived there with Kathy & Pete when the show began if I can recall.

yes they did and it was a right pokey hole. Back then, you only saw the interior though.

Didn't Ava and Dexter live there during the gang storyline?

Hang on just one minute. The Walford Luxury Apartment complex is quality housing the likes of most in this thread can only dream of owning.

It's telling that two bit hacks Lucy and Lauren were only letting out small fry 'Walford Common' hovels whilst the classy clientele were all flocking straight to upmarket Walford Tower. Christ, I'd murder Lucy too if she showed me round that poxy filthy 2 bed in the shadow of one of the modern engineering marvels of the Western world.

Isambard Kingdom Brunel himself would've been proud of the pebbledash render on the lower 2 floors.

No that was a rough estate nowhere near the Square.

It did seem much more prominent that it has in years but I think it was just the angle of the shot.

Yes, the Beales flat was there at the start. They'd 'done well' living in a private flat up in the sky! I can't think of anyone that has lived there since Pete Beale left and it wasn't really featured after he and Kathy divorced.

It was definitely a matter of perspective but the tower did look particularly clear and up close, if you lived there and happened to be standing on your balcony during filming you'd be able to see yourself in the episode! Wonder if this episode was filmed in the run up to the World Cup, noticed the massive England flag hanging from one of the flats.

In real East London there would be plenty of towers like this surrounding Albert Square, in Shoreditch there's a huge development in planning that will be create numerous new high rises and skyscrapers, the City of London skyline would be visible as well from some angles.

No, the temporary set hasn't been built yet. When it is built, it'll be built in the car park which is situated parallel to the Clarendon Road entrance (the entrance where the cast and crew enter)
