EE: Reporter Beth Kennedy

She's my new favourite character.

Making Weasel Ian squeal like that, I loved it, it's rare to see someone as professional and effective as our Beth in an industry so sleazy as journalism. She did more for the Lucy Case in 2 questions than that ineffectual, lazy, good for nothing, harlot, whore, and strumpet Emma Summerhayes has accomplished in 6 months.

Hope she moves to the square soon.

No wonder people hate journalists, anybody so cold like that to say she wasn't a little girl, well obviously, but parents will always see their children as little girls and little boys. I didn't like that comment.

However, I think with her part in the whole thing, I can't remember if it was said on the show or if someone said it on here, but if she's suspicious about Ian, there's a certain approach journalists would take that the police would struggle to in comparison. From the way she approached her questions, she was able to spark a reaction the police otherwise wouldn't necessarily get and therefore, the detective could ask Ian following the appeal.

Emma's more there for the family as opposed to looking for the killer.

That scene didn't ring true to me, I actually thought the press should have been more aggressive. And the press conference should have happened about a month ago in my view. It feels like it's come too late.

Phil sussing Ian out was true to form though.

I think there should have been a little more from other journalists, it felt too short it being just one journalist interrogating him. Should have been a little more of a build up from other journalists asking questions.

Beth Kennedy was my kind of woman! She didn't bother with any of that pussy footing around Ian like the rest of the cast are. Dots meant to be grieving a child too, you don't see anyone knocking on her door.

In my opinion the press should have goaded Ian until he cried blood and confessed to murdering her, whether he did or not…

I assumed DS Keeble set that whole line of questioning up in order to gauge Ian's reaction unless I misinterpreted it.

They was no need for a press conference a month ago as Jake was in prison and they thought they had their man. Now he's been released, three weeks had passed without any potential leads and they case began to stall so I think now is the perfect time for this to happen.

Whilst it is horrible to torment a family that are grieving, most murders are committed by very close relatives so they kind of have to put the parents through it like that when trying to catch a killer.
