and on that note, can you get a refund if you felt that the customer service was sub par or if the problem is EE's fault?

Do you get free CS if you want to pay them more money by upgrading? Do you have to pay to get a PAC?

Seems like a pretty poor idea IMO.
I don't think they've thought any of it through properly, but I suspect the other networks could follow suit in due course, they're all thick as thieves.

Can you get around the charge by calling the 07953 number out of inclusive minutes on a different phone (maybe on a different network)?

Or the 0845 number from a landline, but the problem is they will ask you what
is the mobile phone number of the account you're enquiring about, won't they ?!

Kerrrr-ching 25p pissed away on your account

You'll only be charged if you are calling from an OUK/TMUK/EE phone. Calling off-net and landline won't apply the charge.

Do you have to clear security before you get charged? I wouldn't like the idea of someone being able to phone the 07953 or 08 number, input my EE number and 25/50p charges appear on my account!

Thanks. So if you have access to inclusive minutes on another network, just use that to call the 07953 number.

So, what's the justification for the charge then ? If you call in off net, why should that not attract a charge ?

Because you could be paying a per-minute charge on the phone you're calling from.... As they can't tell they don't charge (they'll make some money from the interconnect fees anyway)

It's the 50p charge to jump the queue that annoys me - what idiot at EE thought that this was a good idea? I'm ringing support, i'm already unhappy about something. This is not the time to attempt to extract more money from me - nor is it the time to tell me I'm purposefully being kept waiting so that EE can make more money.

EE really have lost the plot.

If you are having to call customer services so many times you are on the wrong network.

Thinking about it, do you even get the option of extended hours or queue jump if you call in from a non EE network? Would seem strange to offer it if they can't charge the 50p.

Because, EE will now collect revenue from these CS calls. Until now, calls
over their own network were FOC to the customers, and no revenue was
collected as a result. That's no longer the case, whichever method a customer adopts, will 'cost' them and EE collect some revenue.

That's simply not cricket

You make a valid point. Which particular efficient, fair minded, and non deceitful mobile network do you suggest they move to ?

For pay monthly, at least:

If I want to call 3, it's an 03xx number. Same cost as a geographical call, or inclusive. Or free from a 3 phone.

If I want to call VF, it's an 03xx number. Same cost as a geographical call, or inclusive. Or free from a VF phone.

If I want to call O2, it's an 03xx number. Same cost as a geographical call, or inclusive. Or free from an O2 phone.

If I want to call EE, it's an 07xxx number. Call costs to a mobile apply, or inclusive if the plan permits. If I want to call them on my phone, I have to pay. I'm not sure it's a great idea to force people to either pay EE via termination fees or via a direct charge.

I was under the impression that Ofcom was forcing companies away from 0845/0870 and friends and onto cheaper numbers. Is the use of mobile prefixes (which admittedly Orange have been using for years) a wheeze to get around this?
