Revival of the Butchers?
With the upcoming exit of Bianca, Tiff and Morgan it only leaves Liam as the sole Butcher in Eastenders. Once one of the shows most iconic families will be whittled down to one member which is Liam. Pat and Frank are dead, Ricky's family are soon to be leaving and Janine only just left. Does anyone think Clare or Diane should return permenantly? Or should new Butchers move to the square? Or should the family and the history it has be allowed to die?....

I'd like to see Diane return with her partner and son and set up home on the square. She has mentioned in the past her partner is a doctor so she could become the squares new resident GP. Clare Butcher will be 55 years old now, people often don't realise how much older than her siblings she actually was, she could come in with a husband adult children and even grandchildren.

I don't really see those characters as Butchers, more Jackson's/Brannings. Janine will always be the ultimate Frank/Pat legacy and I think it's inevitable that she will return.

I'd have Janine turn up a couple years down the line with David in tow, to wreak havoc

I dont know why claire or diane would move their families to a new country for a nephew they barely know. Liam will have his nan, uncles, aunties and cousins that can look after him so no need to bring in any more Butchers.
The Masood, Coker and Fox clans need building up first |

Not Clare but I'd love to see Diane, and of course Janine, back at some time. I take it Liam is staying ?
I can't see the family fizzling out. |

It wouldn't work. Pat and Frank are dead, Bianca is leaving, it is very, very unlikely that Ricky would return and Janine has gone. It's a shame because I liked the Butchers.

I meant Bianca and her brood; sorry, clumsy grammar! Diane might be ok for a flying visit but I can't see what she would do apart from fend off Max's amorous advances.

Erm, YES bring janine back bring janine back! They were great how they were all brought back in 2008, so well done! A real success for the show and MASSIVELY popular with the British public, one of their wisest decisions, sadly they've all disintegrated over the last few years
pat, david, bainca, Ricky, janine, very sad! janine will return in a couple of years though, I think!

I don't see why they can't just be rested, no doubt a few of them will be returns in a few years so if they want another unit then it's probably best to set up a small new one that can be developed over the years.
The show is shooting itself in the foot if it needs to hold onto the same family units all the time, they burn out quicker and leave the show in a state. That happened with the Brannings. |

There's too many in the cast right now, and I don't think any Butchers coming in right now would have a massive impact on Liam when he has Carol etc. Clare had kids, maybe in a couple of years they could bring in some cousins for Liam. Diane had a son, Jacques, maybe they could bring him in too.

The Butcher's are a big family in Eastenders just like the Beale's, Fowler's, Watts and Mitchell and I would perfe at least 1 butcher, 1 beale, 1 Watt, 1 Fower and at least 1 Mitchell just so we have a link to the past iconic characters

Give it a few years and then Liam could get in a long-term relationship and have children. That will be the next generation of Butchers.
