I'm glad she's through. Other than Mel's negative comment about her 'cheating', I saw no other reason why she would be at risk of being in the bottom 3 as some were predicting.

Us Fleur fans can't get complacent though. She still needs our votes!

You are quite right. It will be interesting to see what song choice she is given this weekend. I reckon it may be something slower so that she can show herself to be versatile.

Some of my suggestions would be:

Stepping To The Bad Side - Dreamgirls
Independent Women - Charlie's Angels
Woman Like Me - Pink Panther

Hey, not bad at all. As long as it's not Skyfall, although i bet someone will be lumbered with that.

I like Fleur - but feel she's more of a performer than a singer. Stunning looking, can dance, has stage presence but put her alone with just a microphone and a song - it will show up the weakness in her voice. Her voice isn't as good as the other female performers. But saying that - I always look forward to her as I know she'll put on a good show.

I agree with this. I like Fleur because she can perform and she doesn't look awkward at all, you can clearly see she's been doing it for years. She's got more charisma than any other contestant. Urban acts don't do very well on TXF though, she is most likely going to be made to sing a ballad eventually and that will be the week she is eliminated.

I really wish they would style her better in the meantime. She's stunning but they are making her look cheap.

Independent Women is a great song for her, but I wonder if she will avoid any Beyonce comparisons. So few people come off well when put up against Queen Bey, and Fleur's ethnicity would invite far more critique than, say, Andrea belting out a Beyonce hit!

One of the things I suspect she needs to demonstrate this week is to go against Mel's 'cheating' claims, by doing something incredibly stripped and acoustic. One of my all time favourite songs (and from one of the best ever movie soundtracks) is Kissing You, by Des'ree, from Romeo and Juliet. It's low key, incredibly controlled, but can be so emotional when performed well, and would probably suit the limitations in Fleur's voice (she's not a belter) whilst still being a very effective ballad.

BTW, I've just discovered Fleur's YouTube channel, which actually has her singing it a couple of years ago - honestly, she could kill with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUM0...lTZ5D3nDWY4_eQ That channel is a bit of a revelation. I don't think we've even heard her sing like that on the show. Could be stellar if she picks right!

I would love for her to sing Kissing You, it's one of the most beautiful, iconic theme songs. However, she would need to nail it in order to translate it into votes.

I would actually love for her to sing that tbh

Thanks for this! It's one of my favourite songs too, would love for her to sing it this week.

I think Work It Out by Beyonce (From Austin Powers) would be a great song for Fleur

Please no not another bloody Beyoncé , Whitney or Mariah song as I'm sick to my stomach of those most over used artists. I think fluer is fantastic but I promise you if she sings any of those artists songs I'm switching channels for 3 minutes.

While she is certainly a strong performer, it is unfair to dismiss her vocal ability. Sure, she's not in Andrea's league or as standout as Lauren, but she is still one of the better singers , and so far ahead of the rest in being the triple threat singer/performer/dancer that she is becoming a favorite of mine. She has star quality and a fierce yet non bitchy determination that I really, really admire. She was great this week, and I loved her acapella during critique

Said this all along, moment Fleur attempts a ballad she is a gonner. She is as much this year's novelty act as Stevie.

She has a smooth ,reasonably versatile tone and enough range to handle a ballad as long as it isn't a really challenging one. If I Were A Boy/KissingYou/Skyfall/Diamonds for example, arranged suitably, would work well for her.Such songs are easy to sing, so she could focus on the delivery and performance and just let her tone and vocal dynamics shine. I'm betting she will work the stage ballad or no, and put a LOT into delivery on a ballad.

Have a look at her You Tube page, and you will see that she is just as good at singing slow numbers.

IMO singing something like Kissing You would be good because it would help her reach out to the 'Sam Bailey, Andrea Faustini' fans etc (which tend to be older/middle-aged). And that vote is a powerful one. So it could really help her and give her a bigger fanbase.

Fleur was at last nights MOBO Awards, along with Andrea, Jack, and Paul.

Have a feeling she might be doing 'Carwash' by Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliot this week

From the Tellymix article about song choice hints:
Quote:
““Fleur East will be rapping, dancing and singing LOUDLY on the chorus."

Wonder what song it could be

Brian Friedman from the Tellymix link:

Quote:
“He told the Daily Mirror newspaper today: “We get a lot of ballads but I’d love to hear some that aren’t so depressing.

“There have been cases where songs about joy and happiness have been turned into songs that are suicidal.””

It sounds like Fleur's song will be upbeat anyway
