I think it would be controversial and its probably the only storyline left that hasn't been properly done. It does go on and there's a huge TV ad campaign at the moment. Would have to be a new family really if it was to happen.

Best idea for an innovative storyline I've heard in months. I've been watching the modern slavery adverts and that chavvy fat woman looks like one of my neighbours and I could definitely imagine her in EastEnders

Yeah this story could work, they could even base it on my actual life if they like.
I'm a slave sadly, the missus orders me around left, right and centre.
She even cuffs me on a somewhat all too regular basis.

So I'd be more than happy to provide their template.
Obviously they'd need to cast a really good looking bloke to play Uncle Q, and perhaps a dragon to play the missus I'm thinking.

I think if they were going to do it they'd have to be really brave and make it a well established, long-running character who has kept it secret for years. I could definitely see Emily Bishop keeping a poor little Romanian woman as a skivvy.

Sadly I don't think Coronation Street could do it.

Two or three years ago, Hollyoaks did a people-trafficking story.

I actually thought Alek's secret in EE, before we found out that he had a family back home, was that he would be involved in people trafficking. I still think that's a story that would work really well for EE, something like enforced prostitution with Eastern European women brought in to the country and effectively imprisoned.

It would have to be a fairly wealthy family though, wouldn't it? I think Emmerdale could do this sort of storyline well.
