I love Deirdre but that's silly money, quarter of a million a year for sreaming 'Ken! Do something!' and 'Traceyluv'. Really?!

I never knew that Anne Kirkbride was 60, although not sure if Deirdre is meant to be that age. Mind you, her and Ken don't look so far apart in age any more, seeing him last night walking along the street in a white shirt, looking tall, tanned and still with a full head of wavy hair, he looks amazing for 83 or whatever he is. Suppose loads won't agree with me.

They could employ at least three other actors for that sort of money, and I dread to think what Antony Cotton is getting.

After 42 years Anne has more than earned whatever they offer her imo.

I sometimes take these pay rise stories with a pinch of salt. Wasn't she given a "contact for life" or something last year during all the accusations against Bill Roache? And why more money for doing the same thing? I don't think she will be planning on leaving the show anytime soon.

Don't worry expect another news article on Antony getting a pay rise and new contact and how gleeful he will be. These actors must get a pay rise every 2 months if these stories are to be believed.

I'm sure I read last year that because she spends so much time at her holiday home in Spain moreso than what she spends in the UK they were worried she wouldn't keep signing with Corrie so offered her more money.

When you consider pampered footballers are getting that a week, for 'roasting' young girls, running amok in nightclubs, and crying like babies, I'd say she's earning every darn penny (and then some).

Talk about stereotyping. I thought you we're better then that. The slappers they have sex with are far worse selling their stories to the papers and breaking up a family. Plus not all top footballers are like that anyway.

I'd give the show 100k if it meant they marooned Cotton on a desert Island somewhere in Oceania. Can't see him lasting long with the wild animals.

A lot of the deadwood characters are on 100k and over, a really good producer would axe the likes of Cotton, what does he do to justify this salary?

Sorry to disappoint you buddy, just an example of what others in the "entertainment" industry tend to earn, just to give Deirdre's salary a bit of perspective.

There's no bigger footy fan than me, but even I'll freely admit that we've got one or two real scumbags taking a good wage from my club.
